'05 Model Year

'05 Model Year
I contacted Mazda NA regarding the '05 model '8s and here is there response.
Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. _I appreciate
the opportunity to respond to you.
The 2005 RX-8 is currently scheduled to being production in August of
this year. At this time, we don't have any specifications for the
vehicle. My best recommendation would be to check with us around June
as we should have more information at that time.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of further assistance.
Please take a moment to give us your opinion about our e-mail service.

Production in August...
I thought that I would pass this on,

Dealer will be happy to take your refundable deposit check at any time. When they are given firm prices by Mazda, they'll call and ask whether you want to make your check non-refundable; if so they will put in a specific order for you for a particular car. By one of these times you should have made an agreement with dealer re color, options, and price relative to invoice or MSRP.

I spoke with a sales rep at a dealership in Raytown, MO, near KC. He said the 05 will be in production in April of this year. He thought there would be 05's available for purchase by this summer. I told him I couldn't hardly believe that, and he pointed to the 05 Tribute I was standing right next to. Of course, in general, he didn't impress me as a guy that knew a whole lot about the 8. So maybe he was just talking out of his rear.

I think the guy who told you that had bad information. I can't imagine them stopping '04 production in April. The information from Mazda is probably more reliable.
Nissan, for example, is already selling 05 Altimas. 04's were available for only 3 months. 05 had an interior / exterior refresh though, but - it all depends on what Mazda decides. If they decide to roll out 05 early to address some concerns that were brought up - more power to them (and us )
