So I fill out all paperwork and get ready to leave the used car lot with my 06 Shinka MT. Owner tells his son "give him the small black remote"
I ask "what's it for?"
Both say "HellIFIknow"
Small black, looks like a remote but no buttons to push. Has a light indicator for "battery low"
So I find previous owner, ask him and he says
"Oh I forgot, it's for the LoJack" Paid $1200 for that.

So I call LoJack. They say, yes, it's part of the car now. Can not move it to another car.

So for $99/$199 (depending what package I chose) I have lifetime LoJack Service. Need to do the paperwork.

Has both LoJack services:

LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System
A small, silent transmitter hidden in your vehicle allowing the police to track it if it's stolen.

LoJack Early Warning Recovery System
The new auto security system that contacts you if someone is moving your vehicle without your permission.

huh? Lo Jack is good. $200 is well worth it. You will probably save that your first year in insurance alone.

How does modding affect lojack?

I can't see how it does, short of potentially ignition mods, as there is an ignition interrupt.

nah, I wasn't thinking straight, good 4 u, but however, if your car is modded and it does get stolen and the police finds it.........

well, at least getting impounded is better than being stolen i guess

I have not done any mods. I just got the car last Wednesday.
I don't even have the title yet. 06 Shinka MT copper red.

Have been looking on what to do to it. I am into Show and not Speed.
No turbo for me. Have you seen how most other cars smoke the 8 (youtube videos)?
Still a bit fast for me.

Mods I want are:
clear corners with maybe the LEDs
usb mp3 player ( have a good 200,000 mp3s)
sunroof air deflector
MAYBE MAYBE bigger tires. I will have to see some in person before I decide.
front and rear accents
strakes
spare tire kit
NOT SURE ON LOWERING. Have to see some in person.
blue interior lights...... LEDs
Don't care for body kits nor engine mods.
Maybe a better sound system

For now I will just enjoy the car.
Want to go to the club meets so I can see other 8s and what people have done to them

Don't really care what others think of MY RIDE!

Tomorrow I go out of town for bike run in South Padre on my bike.
Be back next week. Car is not driven much. Car is not a daily driver.

When I get back I want to detail it. Hope I have all papers so I can register with LoJack by next week.

That's cool. Nice find. How many miles, and did the previous owner indicate why he got rid of it?
Been wanting the usb player for a good while now, but removing the head unit to plug it in scares me a little.

I paid $19,750 for it cash from a small car dealer needed the cash to buy a house.

The previous owner ( I talked to him before I bought the car) said he bought the car at carmax on 4-4-07 for $27,000/ 13,000 mi and sold it at a Ford dealer for $17,000/ 25,000 mi

He told me the car was in excellent condition.

Reason he sold?
He started a new job that required a truck.

He was putting too many miles on it.

Gas was killing him. Too much monies spent.

Car had too many blind spots. He backed onto bushes and scratched the rear bumper. Dealer fixed it.
The car is tinted so when one looks in the rear view mirror, it takes a second or two for the eyes to adjust. I just use the side mirrors.

Is that copper red paint on the inside of the rear accent?

I want a USB unit that plays more than 594 mp3 songs. I have over 20,000 of them.

I own over 3,500 normal store bought CDs, ie CDAs. Taking forever to rip them.

I installed a light in the rear accent, similar to how the stock UK RX-8 came. Forum member derwankle was selling them, but I think he quit making them.

I don't have near that many mp3s ripped, but I figured I would just transfer them to multiple flash drives and switch as desired. I don't care for the satellite radio, and plan to let the free year expire.

but i can understand its a shiinka. the '08 40th is basically the new shiinka's minus the luscious copper red color.
