The dude is joking, but really, Mazada should have improved the RX-8 to exactly what he has above.

I think if Mazda put some brain power to it, they could have got some HP improvements. Its not that much to ask and it damn sure can be done.

The ideal of being outrun by a Mazada 6 (or its mazdaspeed version) makes me sick. But the RX-8 still looks way better though (and way better than most other sports cars).

I found that shocking and didn't think a dealer could even get away with not bothering to carry a particular car from a brand they represent. I guess when it takes them 2 years to sell a new car they have a legit reason though.

My dealer still has a handful of 05's as well... don't really forsee them ordering 07's when they still have a bunch of 05 and 06 models they can't get rid of

I was at the dealer monday and they just got in a hardtop convertible Miata - looked pretty good!

I don't think he's going far enough. That's only a 30 hp bump. The car would have a lot more respect going for it if it had about 80 - 100 additional hp to the wheels. That's why I went turbo with mine, but it would have been a lot better this way from the factory. Even if they had to charge 10k more for it.

Trust me, you'd mind even less with 280 whp.

Personally, I'm real interested in this axial supercharger ( http://www.axialflow.com/ ) and what kind of numbers he can put up. Then the hymee supercharger, if they can get that thing to marked anytime in the "not too distant future". If these superchargers are not done "right" than I might decide to go PTP turbo.

I take my "hat off" to all the crews that have come up with aftermarket "fixes" to the RX-8 HP problems, but Mazda should be way more active in fixing this issue themselves. Even if they make small HP gains, it looks better than doing nothing and come out with a new annoying color or CD player.

The RX-8 is just too sexy and nice looking of a car, not to go faster and terrorize the street with speed.

I know, I will be going FI, sooner or later. I just want some damn aftermarket S/Cs to come out, hopefully within the next decade.

Your mean "they can't get rid of at their price". Dealers could get rid of 05s and 06s if they sold at the right price point. Secondly, Mazda could easily force them to take more RX8s as a condition of getting more 3s (for which dealers are desperate for). Manufacturers do this all the time. Dealers can't do anything about it since they need the popular models.

Funny that in the DC area, all the RX8s on the lots are M/T. There are zero automatics.

So, to be fair, perhaps in that interim time they had some 8's on the lot, but with an average selling time of 160 days for an 8, I doubt it was very many.

Wait, I'm confused—didn't I read here that there wouldn't be an '06? Something about… poor sales??

Do you live near Jersey? The one we just got in today is an 07 GT in grey with the red and black interior. And yes, having that 6cd changer as standard now really does make me jelous that I dont have an 07 = P

The dealer I bought my 06 from had 3 06 RX-8s just delivered but were also desparate for 3s which they were having trouble getting due to thier popularity. I asked about the 07s but they did not have info then. If 07s are coming out, it is the time to get a good deal on an 06 which will not be different than the 07 except you will have 48mo, 50k mile warranty on the 06 and 36mo, 36kmi warranty on the 07.

This is absolutely true......I bought their last '05 8 in the last week of April. I couldn't pass up $8000 under sticker. They said they were actually losing $ on the deal. Not sure if I believe that, but I got a sweet car for the $.

So one RX-8 on a lot with maybe 30 cars. No wonder the sales numbers are looking so hot!!

The point was that this dealer is ordering very, very few 2006's. As of May they hadn't ORDERED a single one and still had at least one 2005 at that point. That's freaking terrible no matter how you slice it.

And NuCar Mazda is massive. It has hundreds of cars. Having 5 RX-8's still is disproportionately low to the other models and the number of 2005 RX-8 they had. They had more than five 2005 RX-8's in January of this year so if 5 is a big number to have now (good thing) then it's also a big number to have left over in January (bad thing).

Wonder if you get 5yr 60k if the car was built before 6/1/06 (with the recall).
