08' rx8, 09 rx8, or s2000?

I have a 2007 s2000 offer for around $16,000+OTD with trade in, only 1,000 miles on it and it's considered "certified used" but no one owned it, the dealership bought it to avoid fees for having it on their lot for too long

I have a 2008 rx8 touring package offer for $18,000+OTD with trade in (after BUYING a 100,000 bumper to bumper for $1,000 bucks). this is the last NEW 2008 rx8 in the southeast. it's red like i like it... although i don't like the spoiler.

I haven't even looked into the 2009 rx8's, but i can not stand a single one of the cosmetic changes they've made. (i can handle the new rear end of the vehicle)

Love the rx8, had one for 4000 miles before it died... bought an xterra (and although i love the xterra, i've regretted not getting another rx8 since then)

I WANT SOMEONE to SELL me on the new 2009 rx8 model. Is there REALLY an actual reason to wait another year until the factory incentives get put on those?

<fwiw, while you respond, just know i hate the steering wheel, the new front end, and the fact that the front wheels don't have those vents behind them anymore.. again, only cosmetic issues with it...but they seem to be deal breakers>

i guess you could say i am an advice seeker. and i CAN'T seem to get my mind off that honda s2000 with a beautiful 100,000 mile bumper to bumper he gave me as an incentive to buy it.

the answer to this, imho, is no, especially if you don't like the way '09s look

that new '08 would be my pick, altho just fyi last ~august just when the '09s were about to show up at the dealers, i got at least 2 offers from dealers for brand new '08s for ~18k. now the deal you got offered is 18k w/ your old car traded-in and you have to pay another 1k for a warranty? it's not bad i guess but you MIGHT be able to convince them to do better. that s2k is a pretty good deal, too. do you know if that was a demo car, hence the 1000 miles? if so then it might have gotten joy-ridden on. hard choices

the deal on the 2008 rx8 was like 25,700 or so which was definitely invoice price for the touring package though. you're TELLING me that you got offers for new 2008's WITHOUT a trade in for 18k???

+1 on the r3.
i'd only get an 09 if its an r3. those recaro seats just do it for me.

i honetly like both cars, and 16k for a 2007 s2000 is defintely a nice offer, but the practicality of the rx8 is just far superior to the s2000.

defintely a tought decision. but i still do love the rx8
go for the 08

that almost seems like that's impossible. i even had my friend who is a dealer tell me that 25k OTD was a SQUARE deal on the touring package. how the heck did they offer those at 18k?

anyone else have thoughts about my predicament?

i've been swaying to the s2k SO hard since i drove it the 2nd time. i'm trying to disolve my excitement over the NOVELTY of the soft top. i'm trying to re-fall in love with the rx8, but my freaking brain won't get off the stupidly impractical s2000. damn i wish i could just USE an s2000 for a month or so and see how badly i miss being able to use space in my vehicle.

the new 2009 ultimate edition isn't coming to the US as of now. and besides, my price range is 26-28, not 34ish

that's what i'm telling you however, it was for a sport model (=base) w/ no options whatsoever. a sunlight silver sport 6mt, 2008, brand new, and i got OFFERED 18k straight ($10k off sticker), and this was from a dealer in san jose. the other one was a dealer in LA. this was at the end of summer/beginning of fall and they were advertising anywhere from 8k to 10k off, so i bit and contacted a bunch of 'em and got these 2 offers

the one you're looking at is for a touring w/ spoiler, so the extra equipment should add about ~2k. 25.7 isn't bad, but it's not a steal either. to pick up a new '08 now, it'd better be a steal. good luck!

those are disgusting deals. i would go buy it right now if i could get it at the 18000 price tag. but beggars can't be choosers, and invoice price seems to be as cheap as i can get him to go. the STICKER price on the one i'm looking at is like 30,400 or something like that. so the fact that he's got it down to 24,000 pre tax and title seems like he's at least working with it.

If you are paying invoice, the dealership is pocketing the manufacturer rebate which is $3500 I believe (it was that amount in December when I bought mine). That is giving them alot. You should be paying well below invoice for an '08. I paid $26K for a '08 40th Anniversary (about $33.5K sticker, about $30.5K invoice) and I didn't haggle. Make sure you know what rebates are out there and how much. Remember, they are trying to get rid of '08s. I can believe $18K for a willing dealer for a sport or touring.

$24K means you are splitting the rebate with him.

i didn't even look at the mazda website. just google searched mazda incentives. went to a couple sites and both said 500, so that's what i concluded.

You will miss the space in the 8. My buddy sold his EVO, bought an S2k and loved it but the lack of a back seat eventually got to him and he is back in an EVO. I loved his S2k but it is seriously small. I have two kids so its a no brainer for me but even during the week its nice to at least got to lunch with more than one person.

Dude it is sooo small. It weighs the same as our 8 but cramped especially on long drives. Plus remember the smoothness of the 9k redline? S2000 Vtech not so smooth. If you are a little guy then by all means get the 8. Get the car that fits you.

. . etc . . etc
FWIW - That is NOT a new Honda.
Dealerships are not allowed to just buy their inventory. (Thanx Weseloh)
It was somehow sold and the deal unwound.

But back on topic -
Hondas are great, but I am too big to fit in one. (I weigh less than 150lbs)
And there is something about the smoothness of the revving rotary that can not be described, it must be experienced . .. . .. daily
And if you like the look of the 08, then get the 08.

S2k seems to be the best deal financially.

09 sucks don't go there.

If you can handle 2 seats only.... buy it.
