1 Hour of Driving My 8 = Positive Reassurance
Any doubts I had about buying my 8 that were still lingering (ONLY because of the cold and somewhat snowy Michigan winters) were crushed mercilessly by a one hour drive I got to take (1/2 hour each way), as it was 39 degrees and the roads were bone dry.
And yes, this was on the stock Potenzas, on nice, winding stretches of roads in great condition, and with little traffic.
Rotaries sound so nice in the upper RPM spectrum.

Just remember the RE040s are "Summer" tires. If there is snow on the road, leave it in the garage unless you have switched to all weather or winter tires

In snowy winter conditions - it's all about the tires. Don't make us say "I told you so" - are you really willing to risk a $25K car because you're too cheap to lay out $1K for appropriate winter tires???

Ha...I actually have not listened to the radio while driving in about 3 weeks. I enjoy the sound of the rotary and frankly alot of music now a days just sucks.
The RX8...what a fantastic car!

Gord, I wouldn't have taken her out if the roads weren't bone dry and the forecast wasn't certain.
You're right, though.
I'm deciding between buying snow tires, or leasing a Jeep Liberty 4x4 (brand new) for $59 a month with $1,059 down (yep you heard right).

Hi 8at18, welcome to the club.

RotoRocket, I'm totally sharing the feeling here. I drove my RX-8 for 5 weeks, then had it in the body shop for 6 weeks after that deer ran in front of it. I made the 2nd and 3rd car payments while it was in the shop. I did have doubts about the cost/winter-practicality, etc when she was away. Now that she's back - even the 15-minute drive to work is enough to reassure me that I *love* this car.
