I have over 141,000 miles on mine, but alas the end is near. My 8 was diagnosed with low compression last November. I still drive it a couple days a week with the concern that she may strand me at any time.

136k and still going strong
Still my daily driver. Bought it with 30k and just take care of it. I have never had any major issues just normal maintaince. 2007 GT 6 speed MT. Have gone through 2 clutches and 3 sets of tires but other than that I change my plugs, wires, coils every 10-15k and my oil every 3k. Keeps her starting on first turn and running smooth. There are no signs she will ever stop !!

Out of curiousity...how many that past 100,000 miles just use the car as its supposed too?
no premix
no additives
no modification
change oil every 3000 miles
uses 5w_20 oil
91 octane gas
has car completeley stock
and how often you rev past 6000rpms or even redline the car?
i have a completely stock 2010 RX-8 GT 6spd MT...im at 59679 miles right now and i want to make it last till at least 150,000 miles...
i had an RX7 1990 GXL and i made it go till 250,000 miles...but ive read Renesis Engines dont really last that long due yo Apex seals being shorter

Stock and stock
i can say my car is a 2007 GT MT 6 speed
I have never premixed
I have never used additives
it is 100% stock
ive never run anything but 91 oct
always 5w 20
oil change religiously 3-5k
plugs, coils, wires every 10-15k regardless if it is showing signs of wear or not
at 136k now and runs perfect
im a spirited driver for sure yesterday had her at
125 mph
i redline it bare minimum once a day. And love to push her to the limits, That's the fun part of driving our car right?!

If we just treat the car how its supposed to then shouldnt be a problem hitting past 100,000 miles...yes they are high rev engines but they are not redline engines...spirited driving is not the same as hard driving i think thats what the issue is for some...

My first RX8 was a 2004. It had about 60k on it when I bought it and 155k on it when it was wrecked.
It was originally a fleet vehicle. Meaning it was used and abused and used again. From the service records it doesn't appear as if the engine was ever replaced. Then it was sold to me, and I used and abused it even harder than they probably did. Redlined it every chance I had, probably got about 6-8mpg on average solely because of my foot. I would start it up cold at 10 degrees in NY and floor it straight out of the driveway. When I say I abused this car, I'm not exaggerating.
Never premixed, completely stock, 5w-20 dino oil changed on average every 5-8k miles (I was a lazy focker busy with school) plugs coils wires were changed *once* in the 95k miles I owed it.
The car did have a rare misfire at WOT near redline that appeared after it was at a collision repair center for about 3 weeks. Compression tested completely fine, and continued to drive it like that without an issue for years. Never had any cat issues. Clutch pedal snapped, heater controls broke, really just about everything that could go wrong with it that wasn't powertrain related, did. Drove me nuts, because all I really wanted a new engine.
My wife wrecked it picking me up from the train station one day. Lexus SUV slammed right into the drivers side door and fender. Whole car looked like a crushed soda can. So it sat in my driveway for almost a year. When I sold it, I took it for a spin around the block just the way it was and it still drove as perfect as the day I bought it. I was completely amazed the frame wasn't bent. Our chassis really are solid as a rock.
With all of that said, I would not recommend doing any of this to your car. I got lucky, and my luck was most likely going to run out sooner than later.

I broke 100,000 about a year after owning mine and the engine was doing great! I took it to the dealership I bought it used from (Fowler Dodge OKC) and got my free oil change since I was in the area. I was driving down the road happily and I downshifted to fourth to pass as I passed, I felt a loss of power. I shifted up and it didn't help a bit. I held in the clutch and it plum died while I'm going 70 down the highway. After trying to turn it over (still rolling down highway) I killed ignition completely and then put it in third and then dropped the clutch. It started up and I drove it home fine. No CEL or anything. The next day, I started it to go to school and the CEL popped on and every time I tried to put my foot down it would flash at me. I took it to my local shop and they didn't help a bit. I called the dealership and they told me they put in 5w-30 synthetic. Granted, idk if that's what caused it but now my engine is shot and I'm currently getting a used one to put in. Saying that I was mad is simply an understatement. So engine #1 made it 107,000. DONT USE SYNTHETIC. It'll create a thin lining of **** on your rotor housing and **** up apex seals and ruin the motor. Especially if you didn't know you were burning oil and run out on the way to OKC to get a compression test done.

Never pre-mixed or used additives.
Engine is 100% stock.
Only used Castrol GTX 10W-30 every 3000-3500 miles or so.
Changed the plugs about every 25k-30k miles.
93 Octane here in FL.
Don't really redline that much daily driving, but the car does see track days once in a while. Hopefully it'll last for another 100k.

First post here. I just bought a 96,000 mile 2006 RX8 from the original owner. She is a mid 40's car savvy Lady. Appears to have taken great care of the car. I got all the documented service records and all recalls etc with the car. I'm waiting for my insurance to kick in so I can drive it. It's hard to wait. I hope all is good with the car and all your input about mileage etc has been very helpful. I'm retired and do very little mileage so it may take me a while to report on 100,000 miles but I intend to get there and report.

You bought it with 96,000 miles , so you only have to drive it 4,ooo miles to join the 100,000 mile group ?.... No one can really know who drove what miles but some of us like my self have driven all of it. For me i am at a tad over 112,000 miles and i have pre mixed since new. Good luck in your next or first 4,000 miles

Since I posted for the first time in August, i've added the insurance and been driving the little RX8. Love the car. The previous owner never premixed but I've started doing it and will until I change the motor out (swap) if I ever do. I'm really starting to enjoy the RPMs and full handling fun of the car. I also did the LS coil swap (home grown swap )with MSD wires and new plugs. Adapted the coils to the original Mazda coil plate. Not sexy but functional. The original plugs did not look very good to my untrained (Rotary plugs) eyes. But now it does seem to run much more smoothly at high RPMs ( or I may just be perceiving it???) so I think it was a good modification.
I bought the car with intensions of swapping in a LS V8 so not sure how many mods I will do to the rotary BUT, I do own a blower unit off of a Ford GT500 (Eaton 112) and am getting the bug to adapt it to the rotary. So who knows, May just stay with the Renisis and continue to play with it. The car is only missing low end torque and a little HP thru the rpm range to make it an outstanding little car.

My rx has 130,000 but is having some problems. It smokes really bad when I start it and idles really rough but once it warms up and I drive it, it stops and runs great. I have put two and two together and decided I have a coolant system leak (coolant in my #2 rotor) but I dont know how to tell if it is a blown water seal or a cracked housing. And if it is a water seal, is it worth replacing and how hard is it?

with an engine that high in mileage I would drop a reman engine into it.
I purchased one and it runs great, mine died at the same time your engine did.

Passed 200000 miles
My 2004 (manufactured 9/2003) 6 speed passed 200000 miles on Thursday April 5. Original engine and transmission. I am the original and can proudly say that I drove every one of those miles. My friend doing the math says I probably sat in that seat for 5000 hours.
I have ave never red lined the car. Probably never been over 7000. I do not premix. I use 89 octane gas. I have made no modifications and the car has been regularly maintained by my local Mazda dealer.
Almost
all of the miles were driven in New England. I used it regularly to commute to and from downtown Boston during rush hour traffic. I have never been to a track with it.
