congratulations on the 100,000 mile mark! What an amazing time you must have had covering all those miles.
Looking forward to seeing your 200,000 mile thread. Good luck with the job search, I know it's tough out there but hopefully you'll find something in the near future. (gotta start funding that Turbo, ya know... )

Hey guys, yeah I should break 115 this week.
Nothing too crazy has happened. Everything is still running strong. i think I may have seen a slight increase in rattles, but most could be fixed with some time dedicated to it.
The only mechanical problem I have run into is a couple weeks ago my clutch got stuck engaged. I got a push and started the car while in first gear and took off. I think that forced the hydraulic cylinder and everything started working again. It hasn't done it since so I can't really diagnose it as of yet. I hope it was just a one time problem. I have had plenty of those little things happen over the years.
All is pretty good and I'm still in love!

I think what would be helpful is to have a sticky for "100k+ 8s on first engine." We can compile everyone's 8 who has 100k+ on the same original engine so that we can get an idea on maintenance and trends. I am reviving threads left and right of people, but we should have a focused discussion.

Not as short as you would think. Just for the heck of it, I'll dig up the people that I have to be 100+ on original motors, or at least change motors after 100+. I can recall 4 people on the top of my head who made complete threads including this thread.

Good post.
Well done on hitting the 100k. and really nice to read something POSITIVE about the RX8. I'm not stirring them all with the same stick but there sure is a lot of doom and gloom about the 8's on this forum, nice to read your refreshing post.

Yeah, I don't believe the weight/type of oil is as important as how often you change it. My second engine lasted the longest (about 75k) on Castrol GTX 10W-30 and I am certain had I been running the SOHN adapter, it would have gone well over 100k.
This car is just a bit finicky, that's all. It's like having a super hot girlfriend who is great in the sack that shops way too much. Are you gonna dump her just because she shops too much? Not me
