100,000 miles!
Last night, I hit 100,000 miles. Bought this car in Aug 2005, sunlight silver, she still looks beautiful to this day.
I will keep this brief:
-I love this car
-I've done the oil changes myself, 5w-20 castrol gtx
-My drive is mostly hwy so I average 22-23 mpg
-I am no professional, I do not track nor care to. Even after 5.5 years of having her, I am still an amateur at this.
-The brakes are just NOW squealing so I am shopping around for good prices, but it seems everyone is around $400 for the whole job.
-I did a tranny flush at 70k, got the MSP-16 recall done. (Correct me if I have the name wrong)
-I redline her at least once every time I drive her
-I have the SP2 exhaust and AEM CAI. No other modifications really.
-My left lower speaker went out at about 65k? I just replaced it with another from a local audio shop. The sound is not the same compared to the Bose, but I could care less for audio in this car.
-Right side mirror was broken by someone leaning on it, replaced at about 90k.
-I've had one accident where guy T-boned me in my rear right tire side, I thought she was gone forever, but LOOK AT ME NOW
-I am no car mechanic, not a technical person, I just know how to do basic maintenance.
Other than that, here's to another 100k miles!

Impressive, it took me three engines to get to 122,000 miles. But I do drive hard despite meticulous maintenance habits

I'm almost there with you, just under 95k and will probably hit 100k within 2 months. Original engine and still getting upwards of 18-19 mpg (I drive usually between 80 and 90 on the highway so mileage goes out the window). Though I needed a new engine 20k ago but simple maintenance like coils, sparks, and removing the cat got me back on track, hoping it will still serve me well for many more miles

Alas, the hundreds of thousands of 8 owners who who would react this way are not on this forum, and never will be. They have no cause to find their way here. There's only one place in the world where having your "original engine" would be considered news. And that's right here, on RX8club.com.

^well said,
typically on car forums you will find countless reports of people having problems here or having problems there. Typically you will not see thread after thread saying "hey my car is just fine and running great".
What a lot of people use these forums for are problem solving so you will find a large portion of the forum community with "typical problems" that that particular car is "known" for.

I assume you have a MT and not AT. Also lots of highway miles and not city. From all the reads I have done over the past 2 years this is a big plus when it come to extending engine life.

Also, I agree about people posting about problems versus posting about success stories, but it is what it is.
I have a 86 mile daily commute and a majority of it is highway so I just set cruise on 65 mph. I used to be a terrible driver and speed ALL the time, but I became humbled after 2 speeding tickets and decided to just cruise. It helped, mpg went from 19 to 22!
