I asked how much it would be to just do what is specified in the owners manual. Of course he didn't know what the owners manual said and had to ask me. I listed it off and he told me $58.
I know it's simple stuff that I could do myself, but I want scheduled services stamped in my warranty book.
Bottom line, if you're quoted some rediculous amount for 15K service, ask them to do just what is listed in the owners manual and you may be able to get a much cheaper price.

Just curious, where was this at? I didn't know we had some sort of odd fuel in the Northwest that required extra attention to our cars.

It shouldn't cost you more than $70 for 15k service. All you should be doing is the same procedure you do every 3,000/5,000 miles (oil change and tire rotation), plus have them clean out (vacuum) the air filter for 15 bucks or so. You don't need to replace the air filter till 30,000 - 35,000 miles. The cabin air filter doesn't have to be replaced until 25,000.

After telling them that I wanted the required 15k service and not the recomended, they were cool and didn't try pushing anything else on me. They said that I didn't even have to make an appointment. I brought it in and they had it done in less than an hour. It cost around $60 and they signed the warranty book for scheduled service. The salesman that sold me the car a couple months ago (used 04) not only recognized me and remembered my name, but bought me a cup of coffee while I was waiting.
So after cutting through the initial BS, it was a pleasant service experience.
