Interesting, the new 18 year old owner who signed up didn't think he was bragging either, and he's had 3 very nice cars before considering the 8.

I'm guessing the only reason he put in his age and the previous cars he's driven was to brag though, because that's the only reasonable answer.

It's an issue that needs to be resolved. Not taking it personally, just trying to defend the people that haven't done anything wrong and are getting bashed for no good reason.

As long as there as people being stupid about this whole thing I'm going to be replying.

And by some of these replies I've seen from you guys, I think YOU'RE the ones taking it way too personally AND waaaaaaay too far.

Thesis nothing. Truth more like it.

As long as you understand how ridiculous you've been and plan on either stearing clear of these threads, or actually post something helpful to the thread other than bitch.

Otherwise, same time next week when another 16 year old gets an 8.

He's faster than me, I was a little over 500 when he got reset to zero, and now he's almost up to 700.

I hardly ever post in discussion unless I feel like I need to, or if it's to welcome someone. Otherwise I just stick in the lounge.

Thanks though, I appreciate the support from a fellow member. Funny how no one seems to care about that at all. For all intensive purposes with as much name calling and slandering that goes on around here you'd think we are all from a different forum and drive completely different cars.

Spoiled, maybe, but bragging or ******? Definitely not...yet. And when one comes that is being a ***** or bragging about his age I'll lead him into the slaughter for the rest of you to pick apart post by post.

Sounds like you received a life lesson with your apartment and roommate. After your have another 15 years of these under your belt you will start to understand why this is such an issue.

The fact that you didn't get yourself killed or someone else with your Trans Am is admirable or just plain lucky. It in no way relieves your parents of a very stupid decision they made to give you that kind of car. The fact that you don't consider the RX-8 a high powered car further illustrates your lack of understating as to what is happening here. This is nothing personal just a function of your age. We all through we knew it all in our teens, its not till your later years that you realise how much you didn't know. It is a plain bad idea to give a kid a sports car, you don't have the development, the experience or maturity at that age to make good judgements while on the road. If you don't believe this look up the accident death statistics for teens as oppose top the rest of the population.

It sounds like you are attempting to work your way through the world which is good and separates you from a lot of these other Hilton wannabes who Daddy is hand feeding. If you want some good advise pack it in on this issue, scientific study, statistics and experience are working against you here.

I know the value of money and hard work, and the RX-8 is not a high powered sports car.

My Trans Am was, and that wasn't a great idea. I did get into some trouble with that car, nothing serious, just some speeding tickets that I got dismissed. Which I paid for on my own.

The only thing my father did for me was get me the car, it's not like I have everything else handed to me on a silver platter, and it's not like any of the other 16 year olds have it that easy either. W're not even sure if this guy has a job right now and is helping pay for the car.

Yeah, just an example to show most of you that I don't having everything given to me.

Everything is going to be fine now, talked to my dad last night, he offered to help out but I don't really need it so I declined.

I guess that could just be me going from a ~300 HP car down to a 197 HP one.

I still don't think the RX-8 is considered a high power sports car, It's a sports car, but at the very bottom of the bucket in terms of horse power.

Compare it to a New vette, or a BMW, or a merc some kids get at 16 from their rich parents, those are high powered sports cars, the 8 really isn't all too powerful.

Speaking on the trans am, I hardly think going 70 in a 60 is endangering anyones life. At 60 miles an hour if I'm going to hit someone, 10 miles less isn't going to make too much of a difference.

The only time I was in a situation like that was not having proper tires on my car, I had summer tires with little tread left on the rear ones and I was driving in rainy weather. Ended up spinning around 3 times, crossed over a few lanes of traffic. Had nothing to do with my speed at all, I was actually going the speed limit.

Fortunately it was late at night and there was hardly anyone on the road. Not really the cars 300 HP fault, just mine for not having new tires yet. I wasn't really into car maintence at the time, so I didn't really check the tires...ever. (Better be sure I did after this though!). After that I got some all season RE-910's put on and everything was smooth after that until the transmission went out, that's around the time my dad said that car was too unreliable and I needed something for college that won't break down anytime soon.
