Mazda would have done really well to add a very tall 7th gear for highway fuel economy purposes.

yeah, i kind of wish they had. :/ especially since i do A LOT of highway miles at 80mph. sticking to 72mph is very hard. thats the slow lane on 95.

although, i cant imagine not shifting before 3750 rpm in the city for daily driving. i consider 3.5k "gunning" it. i usually shift at 3k for the first 2 gears and 2.5-3k for next 4 gears.
