At a normal 5,000 miles a year, will take like 38 years to reach 192,000.

How is 5k miles a year normal?? lol

Putting 30-40k miles a year on a car is pretty typical depending on how far your job is and how spread out your area is.

i probably put like 7-8k mile a year communting from school and work , i also put my car away for the winter. 5k seems reasonable if your commute isnt far.

That's nuts. On average most folks drive around 20-24k km per year. Dunno what's that in miles.

I guess you aren't used to western states like Colorado. Colorado springs is 480 square km and thats not even counting black forest, monument, fountain or manitou springs!!

The drive from my parents house in black forest to downtown is ~20 miles (one way).

Just for comparison purposes Chicago is 600 square km.

Even if all I do is drive to work, lunch and then back home I drive at least 50 miles a day.

Just looked it up, black forest is an additional 350 square km alone.
Wow what a spread out area we have.

I put about 6k miles on my car last year. I guess it helps that I don't drive more than 10 miles a day.

My commuter Sentra has 187K miles on it, but that's not quite the same thing.

/ 1.6

1.6 km = 1 mile. Candian, eh?

One of my ex-Mazda (MX3) I had was over 100,000 miles. Only 2 things (CV joint, muffler) needed to be replaced other than regular maintenance and breaks/tires/Timing Belt.

I am still under 500 miles on my 3 weeks old rx8. With this calculation, I can barely reach 8,000 miles in 1 year if I don't put it away for the winter.

ps. my 8 is my weekend car only.

dang, my daily driver is a 96 and it barely hit 175,000 a few weeks ago. 192,000 is just nuts, on a rotary no less.

My first car was an 83 rx7. 255,000 with original engine and trans when i got rid of it. Its not crazy to get alot of miles out of a naturally aspirated rotary. My 8's engine and trans is original and I beat the hell out of my cars. Just keep up on maintenance and you'll get some mileage. Change my oil every 3,000 miles (conventional), spark plugs, trans and diff every 15,000. Replaced my cat around 75,000 and thats all aside from brakes....knock on wood again. What good is a car if you don't drive it like you stole it?

i just hit 50K but bought it with 38K miles. i only put on 4800 or so each year so it will be my daughter or son that would see it hit 192K miles and they won't get their licenses for over a decade

wow 192k is a lot of miles... my 91 integra only has 136k on it and that car has been to hell and back. But it is awesome to hear a success story about the 8 going that far without any huge problems or engine swaps.
