Actually if you want to talk about a powerful car that handles badley you should be talking about the New Pontiac G8's with 360-400 hp (depending on the model) and a .85 g rating @ 4100 lbs. Why didn't they just take a 88 Lincoln Continental and put a Corvette motor in it? At least then you could get it for $6000 instead of $32k-$40k.

While Mazda is doing things to save weight more and more car companies are building cars that weigh as much as trucks.

And you know this based on....?

Going straight fast is not a criteria. Otherwise we'd drive Mustangs or Z cars. There's more to life than going fast straight although the rx-8 is not by any means slow either.

Lets count how many people said they would..

I counted 5 YES's and then I count Swoopes post because it sounds like he would do it as well. That's 6. that's a large portion of this thread, while there is a large portion just arguing about handling...

Could that be what he's basing it off of, and how it's fact by what is in this thread?

i'm not saying it's 100% true. But judging from this thread alone like cyberpitz said, there is some truth to it along with people saying handling is not as well.

I would love to have a Supra, i'm just not willing to trade it away because my car is brand new. Plus Supra is a great looking car and it's for sure more rare than an RX8.

Realistically speaking though...yes Supra goes fast on a straightaway, but likely lacking in the handling department compared to the 8. But how many of us takes corners like a race track driving in the city? Just my opinion, it may or may not be a fact.

well i guess i'm one of those un-supra kinds. supra prices have skyrocketed in the recent years partly 'cuz of fast 'n furious and the crowd that worships those movies. i'd much rather have an fd than a supra. supras were pretty cool, but there's something ungainly about them. first, they're boats. my opinion of them is split b/t a japanese corvette or a modern 2000gt reincarnation. the latter makes them very attractive; the former, not so much. i don't think they're ugly, but i don't really like their looks too much either. the motor is strong and nice to tune, and i think for the size they actually handle pretty well. but there's just something not terribly attractive about them. too big, too simple, nothing terribly special, i dunno?

but to the op, you're much better off selling it privately. people want them and are still willing to pay big bucks

The RX-7 is a great looking car in that era. The Supra looks like a beached Beluga whale. I never liked the big wing at the back then and absolutely hate it even now. But hey if quoting 1/4 is your thing, go for it! If I am in the market for a car in that era I'd take an FD. Goes just as fast and will man-handle it at the tracks while looking good.

Well, now you're still going at him with what's facts/his opinion when you're mirroring the same thing. He likes the Supra, end of story. Why do you feel the need to try to make him feel like he's making a mistake when he wants it, that's all there is. You think it's ugly, thus you think everybody should as well.

Hell, I don't even enjoy the looks of it, but you don't see me projecting that. I just hate seeing people attempt to make their opinion look superior to anybody else's.

Errr it's called differing opinion. I didn't generalise that most people will buy the Supra over the RX-8 did I? here's a tampon.....

Um.....I beg to differ on both counts. I owned 2 '82's an 86' and an 89 all non turbo. The 86' and 89 only have in reality about 185 rwhp but they do have a great gear ratio set up so they are quick.

They also handle quite well, although not nearly as well as the 8. When my son graduated he got my 89, since I had a new 05 GT Mustang. I traded it in on the 8 because I specifically missed the handling capabilities that the Supra had.

Personally I wouldnt trade even an 04 rx8 for the 95 Supra..

Keep the supra because it's more fuel efficient, and find a used 8, maybe an 06, and buy it outright.
