1st experience in Dallas TX FREEMAN Mazda and MORE
Howdy all,
I'm quite excited, today is the 1st day (aftet months of reading reviews, spec sheets, your threads here) about the RX8 is when i finally went with my g/f to the Freeman Mazda dealership here in Dallas TX.
Talked to a guy named Wayne (recommended by some people here) and he was cool and nice. I was surprised that like 5 minutes after walking in and expressing interest in the 8's and walking around up close to one on the floor, did he suggest a test drive at the time (ill exlplain below) i coulndt drive a manual) but my gf could, so we took a test drive of BOTH cars, i just didnt get to drive the 6MT.
My impressions: the car, is fuc*in sweet! The difference in "get up n' go" is VERY apparent in the 6MT vs the AT. I knew from the start im buying a manual but for the sake of ease, I didnt drive it today.
Later that day, my g/f took me for a spin in her miata, and she taught me how to drive a stick. Now keep in mind i already knew the theory and even some application because ive drive a manual motorcycle for a while. Didn't even stall out on the 1st ever launch, I will admit I need to learn about launching on a reverse incline....
I'm very please with today, got to play with some 8's (im looking at an 05, brilliant black, black on black leather with the GT package). Wayne, the salesman again, made the experience a good one. This is my 1st time ever in a situation of buying a car on my own, and i had the horrible image of greasy fat men in gold chains trying to swindle me out of my money.
But yeah, very very very impressed with the RX8, if i get my paycheck this week, im going to put $10K down on it and finance the rest. Im excited about having a manual transmission too! My g/f said i did REALLY well for it being my 1st time, and dont say any weird stuff about my g/f teaching me, lol no-one in my family has ever been cool enough to actually think about buying a manual, so didnt have a chance to learn when i was young (im 23 now).
Sorry if im rambling, im just very excited. THis coming week, i get to "think" about pulling the trigger, while im away on business, but since im pretty much set on it, I think whats really going to happen is 1/2 way thru the week im going to call wayne and tell him it's a deal
Quesition: is it "cool" to talk about the price/deal I got here? I'm new to this and dont exacly know how it works, i dont wanna brag about the price im getting and get anyone pissed, but im eager to share it to compare it to what everyone else got their 8 for?
Hopefully by this saturday I can "officially" join this club *winks*

For an 05 Black RX8 -- Grand Touring Package, with leather, Aero/appearance package, cargo net, Accent package i was quoted $28,144, and with my trade-in I take another 700 off of that. Soooo my final price would be $27,444.
I think its a pretty good deal, what about you guys?

Do you qualify for financing with Mazda Credit? If you do, there are rebates from Mazda. I assume for your price that you do qualify.
However, now is not really a good time to buy an RX8. It's so close to the 06's coming out. I went to carsdirect.com and they will sell you that car, with alt he options, brand new for $27,167.00. That includes a 1000 Mazda Credit rebate. I assume there is something coming on the backside from Mazda to the dealers. You might want to wait a bit longer as last year they knocked another 3k off per car in December for the 04's.
The other thing you should do is get your car appraised at another dealer to make sure the $700 is a fair value.
With your trade in, your purchase price would be @26,500 through carsdirect.

Sunday Dallas Morning News has El Dorado Mazda in Mckinney with $7000 of MSRP both M/T and AT and choice of all packages.
I've heard not so pleasant things about El Dorado, but with 7K of MSRP I would deal with it and just bring it to other dealers for service.
