Hey - Just bought my 1st RX-8 {Evole, Copper Red, 2k miles - perfect} --- after 6 months of reading independant reviews & news from this forum...and so what do I think?

I took a train to York (300 miles) to buy her, and had the pleasure of driving back!!!

Completely impressed, utterly addicted. Even managing to get 26 mpg without driving like a saint!

2 very quick questions,

What UK oil is best? (Halfords had 4.5L Semi Synth {I assume is really mineral} 5W-30 for £22)

Are the threads on Engine recalls US only?

Hey! welcome to the club! the oil depends on your areas weather tempatures (what are the temps usually in the UK? lowest to highest). dont know about the recalls in UK but im sure you can find out at by contacting a mazda dealer near. Enjoy your new 8!

 

The engine recall applies to US only.

Due to the gay Ford 5w20 standard. (Call me bullshit, but who else has to do the recall? Everyone else use 5w30 no problem)

The 5w20 bit doesn't have anything to do with Ford's sexual orientation. It's a US fuel economy thing.

Do other countries have US-style auto recalls? Auto recalls here come out of EPA and NHTSA regulations. The voluntary ones would never happen if not for the potential for investigations and mandatory ones.

Congrats, beautiful color! I just got mine in pearl white. I agree it's addictive, sort of like a single malt with a long nose! Or almost like a sensous musical score; everytime I get behind the wheel I discover a new way to enjoy the power curve vs handling equation. Where are you 300 miles from York, Midlands?
