2.0L Piston RX-8?

I've read somewhere that there is a model of RX-8 with 2.0L piston engine, is this true?

I'm not on crack I swear. I was on vacation in china and I swear I saw an ad with both the rotary RX-8 and also the piston RX-8. Maybe they only produce these in the chinese plant?

ALL brand new Mazda rotary motors are hand assembled in Japan, NOT in the Chinese plant.

exact reason why it wouldn't be a rx8. found a thread on here that linked to some info that a mazda rep stated the mx was for pistons and rx was for rotary

rule of thumb...anything RX that came out from Mazda has a rotary.

If it doesn't it's a lie or a mod....both of which aren't worth looking into very much.

A two-liter rotary is the stuff dreams are made of. A 2-liter piston engine simply puts me to sleep.

If you put the Acura RSX's 2.0 liter 201hp v-tec piston engine into an RX-8, this car would be slower, weigh more, and the handling would go to ****.

I doubt handling would go to **** with a 4 cyl. They are about the same size. It might weight a tad more, but it would be fairly close.

Maybe what you saw was for the CX-7?

I wouldn't be suprised if someone did this, but it wouldn't be like that from the factory.

what I know is Mazda China is trying to produce the RX8 with two different engines. One is what we enjoying-- Rotary, and a 2.0 piston. Why they trying to produce a piston? All because of price! They import a Rx8 from japan and sell it for around 500,000 RMB (about 60,000 USD). If they produce it in China, they can avoid some taxes and sell it for 380,000 RMB (48,000 USD). And they can make a piston engine much cheaper, for that they can sell it for under 200,000 RMB(25,000 USD). Chinese people don't care too much about the performance, but like the style. 200,000 RMB is what people can aford and they can get bigger market on the piston engine. The rotary will be save for the rich people who realy like the rotary.

I find this very offensive to me, they wouldn't get a RX-8 coz their roads are too crowded with human.

No offense to you. Yes, it's one of the problems they have, you can feel very fast when they driving 50MPH in the city, they don't even use the extra 100hp at most of time, so they don't care much about the performence like we do. Another problem is they don't have mechanics who know about rotary to keep the RX8s on the road.
