2 door dings in one month.... sigh

Hey guys,

Sad to say that this is only my second post. I have a 2005 Shinka and I have been kinda lurking since I posted awhile back and said hello. However, tonight I am FURIOUS!!! The other day at work I noticed that the paint was reflecting in the sunlight differently in one spot, sure enough there was about a 2 inch long dent in the drivers side door right under the handle. It wasn't as bad as I thought though, as the paint wasn't scratched and I was going to get the dent doctor to remove it.

Then tonight as I was coming out of the bowling alley (where I had parked 2 cars away on either side in the parking lot) I noticed a similar size dent in the passenger suicide door with an accompanying scratch all the way down to the metal. I am still so mad right now... less than a month ago this car was pristine. I make 2 mistakes in believing that people care about other people's **** and whammo... 2 glaring scars on my baby. Are people in today's society just so inconsiderate that they can just slam the door of their car into another persons and not think twice??? I know that I would feel terrible if i hit the door of another car hard enough to dent the metal!!! I just cannot believe that people would disregard another person's property so easily... (sigh)

Do you guys remember in the movie "Pulp Fiction" when Vincent Vega is talking to the drug dealer about how he had his Chevy Malibu in storage for like 4 years and within a week of it being out somebody keys it? He then goes on to say that he wishes that he could have caught them.. that it would have been worth them doing it just so that he could catch them? Well thats how I feel right now... I don't know what I would have done, but you can bet that they would know that they had dented my car and that I was Royally pissed off!!!

Anyways... thats my rant... Thanks for the shoulder to cry on

P.S. When I first introduced myself months ago, it was asked of me to post pictures of my 8 and my 7. Finally I have taken the time to format the pics that I have of them in order for this website to let me upload them (i.e. they were too big in size and I was too lazy for the last few months to change them). The 7 is an '88 Tenth Anniversary Edition Turbo 2 but it is in need of a garage and some serious T.L.C. from me in the next few months.

Damn careless people. You could try someone like Dentpro that will suck out the dent as much as possible.

Have been a victim as well.

I do really like your BB with the appearance package and no spoiler. That is the route that my car is headed in soon. And I think I like the front without the rotary accent too. The Mazda badge is enough on front and love the gaping black mouth. I do like the accent on the back.

I feel your pain. I have 1 door ding on the passenger side and my car has 4200 miles on it. I HATE PEOPLE who don't watch out for other peoples' cars.

Park far, far, far away.

There're lots of stupid people out there. I always try to park the hell away from everyone else, so far so good.

Yes. Well, not everyone. But, there are still many people who just don't give a rat's *** about other peoples' property. You've got kids (be thankful of sliding minivan doors!) and adults who just don't give a sh*t, who are the ones that really make me fume.

However, you and I should be thankful. Door dingers are one thing. You can also be the victim of the jerk (to put it politely) that is being discussed in the general automotive section. https://www.rx8club.com/general-automotive-49/rsx-hit-run-busted-w-pics-111455/

Cheers

I do the same thing, only to find someone else parked right beside me when I come out.

3 Days after I got my 8 I got a ding in my work parking lot. I park in the same spot every day, and the guy next to me does also. So I knew it was him.

During lunch one day I went out to the spot to look at his car to see if any of my paint was on his door. There wasn't.

My next idea was to look at the curvature of his door (the part that closes flush with the rest of the body) to see if the outer most part of the curve matched up with the dent in my door. It did. Perfectly.

I confronted the guy. He denied it.

So I had our security team check the tapes (which they were thrilled to because they love doing that kind of stuff) and the video actually captured him get out of his car and let his door fling open into mine.

We showed him the tape, and he said it was an accident. He paid for the dent to be popped out.

Needless to say I was pissed when I first saw the dent. 3 days!!! 3 DAYS! COME ON.

Sometimes people will target you if you do that. Especially if they see a nice car.

"Oh, this guy thinks he's better than us eh? Let's **** up his door".

Sad but true.

When I first bought my car I tried to give people the bennifit of the doubt that they're kind enough not to ding my door. I recently went to an autoshow where I got the car covered in mud spray on the way there. There wasn't much room to park by myself so I parked in the crowd of cars. But when I came out, I found the car on my passenger side dinged my door! I was pissed because the layer of mud was scratched off with it. It was a different car that was parked there and the drivers door lined up with the ding on my pass side perfectly.

So my brother and I did the next logical thing, we keyed his monte carlo. Sure it makes me as bad as him, but I'm sure the next time he parks by a nice car, he's not going to hit his door against it.

But I learned my lesson too, never park beside anyone ever agian.

I know, but what do you do? Park next to someone all the time? I'll take my chances parking away and hope everyone else in the world aren't jerks.

Sorry to hear about the dings. I got two dings and a scratch in less than 6 months time.

Ultimately, I found out a great way to solve the problem – just don't worry about it.

We're talking about getting stressed over something we're at odds against. Just plan to give your car a makeover every couple of years or so and just enjoy the ride.

Somebody left a big ding in my car behind the suicide door on the passenger side that scraped off my black paint and left exposed the white undercoat. I got my 07 8 a month ago and it happened within 2 weeks. I always park far away too. I was so pissed for days. I try not to look at it.

How can somebody do that to a brand new car? It's such a big dent too...

It's the nature of the beast when you love something. Just like you don't want your girlfriend to get fat and ugly, hahaha

People do it because they are dumb and careless. They do not admit to it because they do not want to admit to themselves that they are a waste of a human life form and need to have somebody just run them over. Ok maybe that is a lil harsh but my car has also been hit by a hit and run and insurance company is a mess just pisses me off to even think about it. But anyways guess you have to go by the old saying what comes around goes around. And just hope they get it like 5x wores

The moral of the story is you can't have nice things. People suck. Your RX-8 will get door dings, right where the belt line crease is. Hopefully they'll be minor dings, and won't cut through the paint. I recommend vigilante justice if the offender's car is still there.
