2 weird light problems, anyone else experiencing?

Got my 8 a little over a week ago and nearing 1300 miles on her I've started getting 2 random problems:

1) My tire pressure light comes on/off at random, it seems to come on approx 1-2min after I start the car and drive, and turns off after the car has warmed up (a little past halfway on the guage, dunno the official name for it )

2) While driving, my oil light comes on/off randomly. This started probably within the past 100 miles of driving and I've checked my oil levels and they are fine. The guage also shows fine, but the light seems to come on and go off on its own at compeltely random intervals.

Any ideas why they would be doing this, or a way to check up on them? I'm taking her in for a full 90 day inspection but that isn't for anohter few weeks so I'm a littl worried

A few people have had their oil pans replaced due to the random oil light.
Try searching..

For the tire pressure light, check your tire air pressure, and do it when the tires are cold. The light comes on when there is a difference in the tire pressures (I think 5 psi). The light goes out after you start driving because the tire heats up and the pressure increases enough to within at least a 4 psi difference.

Read the owners manual, it will help you with this.

For the oil pressure issue, see the dealer.

Yeah, why would you assume there's a problem with the instrument panel lights rather than check the oil and check the tire pressure?

The Tire light (TPMS) means that one of your tires is low on air. ALL tires must be at the same pressure (32psi). if one tire is lower than the others (even by just .5 psi) then the TPMS will come on. Just remember to as stated before check them cold.

Just read your manual and don't jump to conclusions untill you are sure it is a car problem or just a simple case of operator headspace! There are way too many posts by members that automaticly assume there is a problem with their 8 when they never even cracked the owners manual or used the forums search function. Thats why members get flamed. Just do a little basic research first and save yourself some conternation later!

Oh and welcome to the club and use the search function that will save you from the flame also!

Your Oil light might be caused by a bad sensor in the oil pan. If your vin number is between 40000000 and 40111043. you need io have it replaced. Check out this link. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ocs/index.html

And I can confirm for you that the tire pressure light will come on when the air pressure is out of synch with the recommended pressure, or compared to the other tires. It will come on within a couple of minutes of driving, and if you're on the freeway or some place where you get them warmed up, the pressures will rise and the sensor will turn off. However, that doesn't mean the 'problem' is gone, because when the tires cool down again, you'll still have pressure imbalance.
Also, our cars are worthy of having a good tire pressure gauge, not a $1.99 stick kind, and don't rely on the ones at the gas station.

RX8by bis correct, and if turns out to be that your vin # is on the list then get it replaced, but I am just wondering why your car on the list. You just bought your car, and the oil pan issue was only on the earlier production cars. Did you buy one of the returned cars or perhaps a car that sat on the delearship lot for the past 8 months? you may want to check the car production date which is listed on the door. Good luck
