20 brake stomp worked! 4 months of the CEL being on , now off! YES!
After 4 months of
I finally got the CEL to turn off, I kept getting a cylinder misfire code which kept my CEL on constantly and flashing. Well I changed the spark plugs, wires, and the coils and cleaned the main pulley sensor and nothing worked. Finally i did the 20 brake stomp after you turn your key on to the first setting, the oil gauge swept and started her up and took her for a drive. Got on it, wide open throttle and noticed the CEL didn't flash, this is good news indeed.....I'm thinking to myself.
Got on it more and no flashing of the CEL, the CEL was illuminated but no flashing. So I went to my local auto parts store , borrowed there scan tool and erased the codes. The CEL never came back on after driving it, I drove it hard and not a single flash!
My four month ordeal is over , I am in love with my car again!
And just hit 160k miles and she is still going strong on the same motor too!

I'm curious how the 20-brake-stomp is verified on the series II cars, which do not have the oil pressure "gauge". Would the oil light flash instead? Anyone know? I've never seen this mentioned in any of the series II topics....

The PCM is not really looking for a brake pedal input there. It is just to draw any remaining battery voltage down. You could do anything like turn the headlights switch on or even wait a few more minutes.

160,000 miles on the same engine...wow. Anyway, not sure if i would ever see this kind of mileage on my rx8. Right now, its an 05 with 32k + miles. I have a long, long, long...way to go...lmfao.

And that is what I have already said....
After disconnecting the Ground (-) lead, you must apply the brake pedal once within 60 seconds to Clear/Reset KAM.
If not done as requested KAM is not cleared but existing is stored and reused on next battery reconnection and engine start up.
No need to do 20 stomps like S1.
