Talking 2004 Rx-8

I have a 04 Velocity Red RX-8 with 27,000 miles to it. Is there anything I can do for my headlights for the fogging? Other than using Meguires Plastix? I heard I can ask Mazda for new headlight covers???

they wanted to charge to replace/repair mine. it's not moisture, it just seems to have a film on the inside.

(Perhaps mine is a different problem)

The associate there told me that basically my plastic headlamps due to being out in the florida sun have faded causing the smoky blurred haze. He said they basically buff the head lamp etc make it shiny and new again. I will stop at a few other places to get more opinions and prices. I know the dealership will tell me to replace them and I am not longer on warranty. Assuming you are not either in an 04 it would cost hell of a lot to buy new headlamps.

if i were showing my car it would be one thing but it's just my DD so i can live with the film if the alternative is to drop a few hundred dollars to get rid of it.

use toothpaste...rub it on like you would wax and then buff it off. if you have some sort of power tool to buff it off, that makes it really easy. its cheap and works wonders

I know the sand paper is like 1500-2k grit, but there is something about sanding on my car I just dont trust...I guess just keep the area wet and go for it...
