2004 Rx-8 redline warning tone?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and rotary engines. i just bought a 04 rx-8 and i'm veryhappy with it. I've seen some video's on youtube and driven an 05 and right before you get to redline there is a tone telling you to shift( i guess). My rx does not make that tone. I've taken it to redline just to see if it would but it doesn't. Is there a way to turn it on or do i have to go to the dealer?

Welcome. I think my beeps at about 9100 rpm. Are you getting to this or shifting at about 8500 rpm?

The "beep" is hard to hear. It's not very loud and I don't hear it alot. A loud exhaust would make it even more difficult. Many times I get into the cutout before I know how high I am.
I've been thinking about making a mod to add a light in addition to the "beep"

Let her go till you hit the fuel cut off/rev limiter and then you'll know if your beeper works. I check mine daily

Exactly.
If I really pay attention, I can hear the beep at about 8500 RPM or so - but it's very quiet.

I hear mine as clear as a whistle at 8500 rpm. Might want to call the dealer

It beeps a pretty long time before cut-off, especially in 4th gear.
