2004 Rx8

Looking at purchasing an 04 RX 8, GT, 6 speed. Thing is that I know nothing about them YET.

Can anybody give me any tips of what to look for/check out before making this purchase. The car has 27000km's (canada) and has had all it service work done on time.

Anything I should be concerned about?

TIA

I love how people are quick to respond with "search" rather than a simple tip... Search is great, but it's not too difficult to interject a relevant answer from time to time.

My simple tip is this... Make sure you get the carfax report before you do anything.

well maybe they tell you to search because if you actually do search, youre gonna find a million responses in different threads and you dont know what to do.

its better to read one thought out thread.

nahh mean?

Like I said... search is great. He's new to the forum, hell... I'm new to the forum.. but I've been on car forums, code forums, any kind of forum since the inception... and I'm a firm believer of welcoming and attempting to help people when they need it.

Being in Canada..Mr. Snowman...

Check the underside of the car throughly for rust. Look around the inside of the wheel wells. Any extremely noticeable spots...no thanks car salesman!

Check everything on the car. AC, heater, wipers, all lights, horn, take a test drive and make sure all the gears shift smoothly, and without grinding. Do a couple of high-revs, and make sure the syncros are engaging properly.

Test the brakes well, do a couple of quick stops, make sure there is no excessive squeal, and that they function well.

Make sure the car doesn't "stumble" anywhere across the RPM band. All power delivery should be smooth.

I dunno what else to say, really. There cars are too "new" for any major problems to be happening.....

Thanks for the tip on the searching. Only thing is I really don't know what to search if I don't have the car in my hands. I did do some reading about tranny synchros. When I was driving it there was a little grind into 2nd when doing a high rpm shift. It is still under factory warranty so it should be fixed, right?

Thanks for the rust tip and I did already look in the wheel wells. Looks good.

Thanks
