2005 Model changes to RX-8

i heard the same thing a while ago, is this really reliable? and isn't the white called "snow flake white pearl" instead of "glacier white"?
odd that they're not dropping nordic green, 'cuz so few people ordered it. i understand discontinuing yellow to make it special, i think it's kinda neat that they're doing that. it just stinks 'cuz i want one in lightning yellow. btw the yellow on the lotus elise is also called lightning yellow, wonder if they're using the same paint
well w/ the fd, yellow made a come back a few times in japan, so maybe it'll come back in a few years

They did this with the Miata, the "M" editions. There was a color back in about '94 that was called "Montego Blue" which I actually had at the time. It was a great dark blue which, in certain angles of sunlight, appeared to be emerald green! It was gorgeous and the 8 would look great in that color. The 3rd gen RX7 came out in yellow (California edition I think) and it looked great - that's when I decided yellow would be my color for the 8. Thanks, Mazda, but I have no intention of parting with my 8 any time in the near (or mid) future....

I'm one of those freaks that was hoping the 8 came in white.
The first Mazda rotary car was white. Cosmo 110S, 1967 or somesuch.
The first Rx-7 to leave the factory was white. (unverified)
The first Rx-7 I rode in on (1982) was white. Sold me not only on wankels, but also sold me on small, light, flickable sportscars.
The 10th Anniv. Rx-7 was white. Only white.
White is Japan's race color. Look at the BAR/Honda and the Toyota F1 cars.
I'll have to see one in person first, tho. White works for small little cars like Miatas and S2ks, but I dunno how it's gonna fly on the 8. If I like it.. well... sh@t... I was leaning to winning blue :D I guess I'll toss a coin come buy time.
Yes, my Miata is white.

I'd love to see this car in metallic purple. That would be sweet! Something similar to nordic green where the paint shimmers in the light. That would be much better than white IMO.

Anyhoo, for those of you who don't think white is a sporty color, I have two words: "Championship White"
It seems strange though.. every car manufacturer seems to have its sporty color, except Mazda, which can't seem to pick one. Even on the MSP and Miata they wavered a lot.

I personally don't like white as a car color, but many people do. My guess is that the Mazda marketing people aren't dopes and have an idea of what the public wants.
Ever since my dad took me to my first F1 race here in Montreal in 1978 and Gilles Villeneuve won in his Ferrari, red has been the only sports car color for me. If fact Velocity Red kind of reminds me of the old Blood Red Ferrari color.
That's why I won't be trading my red '8' on a 2005 white one.
