2005 rx-8 "build 2"
New to the forum guys. I can't remember the exact terminology, but I have read in other posts about the "post problem/recall" build group for the 2005 year. I hope this is clear enough for someone to understand what i'm asking. I would like to know how I can be sure from reading the VIN that the car has been produced late in the production year. Thanks.

This has to do with the fuel tank recall issue which by now should have been taken care of.
http://www.finishlineperformance.com.../pdf/3305G.pdf will show you what group your 8 falls into. If you read all of the above .pdf you will see this is a minor issue.

Since expo already showed you that, you might as well see the list of ALL the service bulletins so you dont end up asking about them later.

Any car you get should have the RECALLs applied. You can check your car's VIN and build date (posted on driver's door jamb) against the Service Bulletins. Bottom line, if the fix is not already in your car, and you are under warranty, Mazda will apply the fix free of charge. I don't believe that there are any RX-8s that you should specifically avoid.
