rotarynews got a pic of the vin plate under the hood. while most of it is unreadable FE is clearly seen as the start of the number.

Rx8 as the basis for the new 7?? i am not saying the 8 is not sporty enough but i dont want the new rx7 to look like or as close to the rx8... I hope Mazda will have a new chasis for it... a more sportier version like on the above pix but wiv better curves... :D

they're not saying that the next 7 will bear a huge resemblance to the 8 (which it probably won't), they're saying that it WILL be based on a shortened version of the chassis, which is the bit with the suspension on it, and where the rest of the body is built upon... so, it's just the floor: that doesn't necessarily influence the styling very much, so don't worry.

Mazda will be using the 8's chasis for the 7 AND for the Miata (MX5). This has been reiterated in a number of statements from various reputable sources.

those words, in production cars, are interchangible really... the chassis of the car is the base upon which the body is built... no one really builds a monocoque or weld-less car, where the whole body is the chassis: that's just for race cars, eh??

And......the RX-7 will be a two-door - two-seater, so the chassis (design of the car) will have some influences of the RX-8 (that is quit logical) but will look different. More like a coupe; 'cause it is more like a coupe then the RX-8 is

I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Is anyone else getting sick peoples opinions on styling? To use the arguement that something is ugly or nice looking is obserd in ways. Take my wife for example: You all might think she's hot, but shes still an ugly cow to me.

Good lord, I hope so. No offense, but if my husband ever said anything like that about me I'd smack him with a divorce so fast he wouldn't know what hit him. And I hope he'd do the same in the reversed situation.

It's like an ugly girl wearing even worse clothes!!! Shure it looks BRUTAL - which probably was what Nissan were going for. But to me, it has the sophistication of a brick wall, paired with the charm of an eel (probably also cuddly as a cactus)...

Nah, not my type of car - but impressive none the less.

Cheers

Eske

I think thats one of the stupid things I've ever heard. How old are you?

I DO think my wife is hot, thats one reason I married her. Just a bad attempt at some humour. We know not to take each other too seriously --- but this thread isn't about my marriage -- it's about how the Cosworth tuned engine, and the Lotus tuned suspension of the next GTR are going to give Mazda fits. Not to mention the electonically assisted twin turbos that will provide near instantanious spooling, and that AWD system the made Godzilla the beast he is. (just tryin to stir it up a little). I'll certainly be interested in what Mazda does with the 7 though --- great car that I had a lot of respect for. Can't wait to see the specs of the new one.

While I'm obviously a Nissan fan, and love the lines of the new GTR, they say that their toning down the look a little, which will be a good thing. Here's another (more recent and probably a chop job) pic of Zilla with what's rumoured to be the next Supra.

I didn't know opinions other then your own weren't welcome here. He's right, I am young (relitively) I'll be 25 in a month, a male, but unemployed? Actually I'm leaving work in a few minutes, jumping into my '00 BMW, and driving to my house. I've been so bored sitting here at work that I thought I'd make my opinion known. In case you didn't read the parts where I stated that I liked mazda, the RX-8, and the last gen RX-7, let me quote them back to you:

"I'll certainly be interested in what Mazda does with the 7 though --- great car that I had a lot of respect for. Can't wait to see the specs of the new one."

"I like the RX8 though, and I'll be interested to follow the aftermarket scene to see what potential it has. Suicide doors = :D "

"I like the car generally speaking."

"I like the 8"

I could go on and quote more but you get the picture -- hardly a troll if I understand that term correctly. I do however appreciate you stooping to the level of a 6 year old and attacking me personally -- hope that made you feel better.

Hi 2L8RX8,

Hmmm... If you read this thread again, you will see that the person who posted the derogatory stuff about Nissan is "Unemployed Pimp".

His nickname on this board is Unemployed Pimples and I was suggesting that you don't take him seriously because he is this board's resident L'Enfant Provocateur.

Have I ever posted anything that would make you think I would call you names? You may be a bit defensive being a 350z guy on an RX-8 forum but not everyone is out to get you... You do mount a good defense against imagined attacks though.
