I think that the supra will own all. I heard that its gonna cost $100,000. Anyone know if this is true?

I think that the Supra is not going to come out for a LOOOOONG time.

Toyota hasn't even mentioned it yet nor put anything out at an auto show.. So I think it will be a few years before we see it. The RX-7 would likely be out before it.

Toyota has defintely earned my respect with past vehicles --- particularly the last gen Supra, but their certainly not the only player, and they havn't released any information about anything, so who know as far as they're concerned. You'd have to think that they're up to something though. You already know how I love the next gen GT-R and feel how it will stack up against the competition -- hell, Nissan has already stated that their performance goal was the 911 turbo and Mondena. Cosworth tuned engine, Lotus tuned suspension, ATESSA AWD system, electronically assisted turbos, not to mention that GT-R badge that adds like 60hp all by its self. But then again I'm a little biased. The next gen 7 is intruiging, but only 300hp? Did I read that right? That surprises me if its true. I wonder how much it'll weigh though --- I'm sure it'll be a pretty sweet car. I know the new Mustang Cobras have been extremely tunable so far, as well as being a pretty respectable car out of the box (as much as I despise mustangs). Vettes will always be the benchmark that others will want to brawl with, and do we have any reason to believe that the C6 will be any different? Like it or not the C5 is a sweet car, and deserves some serious respect. I havn't heard much from Acura and the NSX, but one rumour that was floating around is that they were developing an AWD system for it, which would be interesting. Keeping all of this in mind, you must remember that my '96 Maxima SE (bone stock) would blow the doors off of any of these cars listed. Blow them right off.

BTW -- I think the car your refering to as the next Supra is the FX something or other, not the next gen Supra. That is supposed to be their 'supercar', while I've seen rumours around saying that they'll build the next Supra to compete with the 350Z and RX-8. It'll be a sad day on MKIV.com when that happens - if it happens. But then again, Toyota hasn't released anything about what they're up to -- not that I've seen anyways, so who the hell knows.

The GTR will have Altezzas and electric turbo?!? Just kidding. :D

If the next RX-7 comes with 300 hp and weighs 2650 lbs it will have about 8.833 lbs per horsepower.

For a 3200 lb car to have the same ratio, it would need about 362 hp.

For a 3400 lb car to have the same ratio, it would need about 385 hp.

For a 3600 lb car to have the same ratio, it would need about 408 hp.

Mazda has never catered to the people who just look at peak hp and torque numbers.

well, how does "only 300", or better yet "only 280hp" sound when the weight is down around 1000kgs??
seem so low??

1000kgs = 2204 lbs.

2204lbs. / 280hp (that magic Japanese "maximum") = 7.87lb/hp

2204/300 = 7.35lb/hp...

potatoes, how much did you say the Lambo had?? 7.667 or something??

im sure am thrilled if the new 7 will be keep light weight... but plllzzzzzzzzzz Mazda.... dont make the new 7 like the FD3s "tin can" body... :p

Let me ask you all a question... What factor would let u buy the next gen rx7??? (assuming its going to be in production) :p
You would buy it because
1. The rotary engine?
2. The 50/50 weigh distribution?
3. Rx7 = Powerful?
4. Aestetic? OR
5. All of the above... :D
