2006 or 2007 rx8

I'm currently looking at two Rx8's. One a 2007 Sport and the other a 2006 Grand Touring. I really like the GT package but hate to have to go back a year to get it. My question is was/are there any problems / major changes between the 06 and 07 rx8's or had they got most of the problems out by the end of the 05 line?

06 RX8 Grand Touring 42K for 16,500

07 RX8 Sport 47K for 15,500

There weren't hardly any changes between the cars. GT will have less headroom for tall people and be a little heavier. Other than that make sure all recalls have been completed and go for the one with the lower mileage.

Thank you for the quick response I'm glad to hear that I really like the red / black leather in the GT. As far as recalls go the only "open" recall I've seen for it is

Open Recall found:
Manufacturer recall/service bulletin issued
Recall # SSP82
RX-8 CLUTCH PEDAL WARR EXT.

But that is only if it breaks right?

On a side note the only thing that it doesn't have is a Nav system which I kinda wanted for maybe some day a car pc is the nav system stand alone hardware or is it wired into the radio / control panel? Is it possable to add one if I could find the dash plate and system at a junk yard or Ebay?

Also was the 06 radio mp3 disc compatable? It doesn't have the markings on it like the newer models do.

Thanks so much for the help and sorry for the extra questions I've been wanting an Rx8 since the were in concept and now I'm so close to getting one I've gone all noobish.

Clutch Peddle is only if it breaks. Mine hasn't to my knowledge.
Internal Sat Nav, in my opinion, isn't the best. The maps would be out of date today. Its better to get a windshield unit that can have maps updated over the inet. Adding OEM Sat Nav is a PITA.

MP3 compatible - unknown

Thank you very much Alnielsen that covered about everything I wanted to know, and hopefully I'll be driving an RX8 in it in the next day or two. Thanks again

Do NOT buy either of those cars.

I just got a 2007 MT RX8 38k miles with enkei rims and exotic speed exhaust and CF hood for 13,500. It does only got cloth seats but it does have the appearance package and sun-roof.

Those are rape prices.

I am guessing he is looking at a dealership, he probably needs to get financed for it. If he does have cash then yes he should look elsewhere, or try and get a loan from a bank or credit union once he finds a good private party seller. If he has a good amount of his own cash to put down like 5k+ then the loan shouldn't be an issue. Generally the less a bank has to loan you the happier they are to take the chance you wont pay.

I wouldnt buy either of them ! Both are waaaaay too high priced. Just be patient and diligent and you will find much better deals. Did you look at the ads on rx8club ?

Those add-ons are probably the reason you got such a low price. The more something is personalized the less it's worth to the overall market. If I was looking for a used RX-8 the exhaust and CF hood would be complete deal-killers.

I'm amused by the usual "These cars are worth almost nothing...you can get one for a song" responses to this kind of thread. I wonder if anyone thinks about what they'd like to get for their 8s when the time comes to move on.

I would be paying cash for it when I do get one, and yes these prices seem a little high but only about $1500 or so? Also the carfax on the 06 GT calls it a Shinka Edition, If it is the KBB for it is near 20K. If it is a Shinka edition would 16,500 still be to high?

Don't use kbb. The dealers follow nadaguides.com. They are more realistic pricing.

Those are both way too high for the year.

I saw a one owner, 2007 Grand Touring with 34k miles, no accidents only serviced at a dealership for $16,700 a few months back.

My 2006 Red GT w/o nav red/blk leather hooked me for $16200 with 15000 miles back in June. After watching 3 "better" deals slip through my hands I bought it quick. This was a Lexus dealer price. I just couldn't take another test drive ending in me not driving it home.... The price started at 16,700.
I used the nadaguides, Carfax and anyone who could give me information specific to the car to help with the decision. I originally wanted a 04 or an 05 red GT but luckily ended up with a low mileage 06.

That's not true -- how hard is it to put the stock hood and exhaust and wheels back on? Like an hour tops....so what your saying is the person who sold me this car lost money cause he didn't put those items back on?
