Well, I thought so, too.

I guess not. Some people require actual physical proof, such as seeing them with their own eyes. Don't worry. I'm sure we'll see someone on here not believing they are coming until they see one sitting on their dealer lot.

ohohohh... i didnt catch this before....according to the site only the shinka package has the Alcantara seats. they dont have the hard plasatic back BUT the other leather packs are still with the hard plastic. thats a bad decision. the lightest interior color has seat backs eassily discolored by kicking children. but you still have the hard back on the black leather combos

I guess that's a good reason not to have kids. They might ruin your seats. LOL j/k

2006 is there...still no info on the nav system

Any word on your 2006 delivery date? MazdaUSA told me not to expect an rx8 with a nav in it before june...as they are scheduled to build those out in april.

I was given a delivery date of April 30, but I fear that may be wildly optimistic on the part of my dealer. However, they showed me a sheet from Mazda that showed their first shipment of three 06 RX8s on 4-30-06, including my Shinka. So maybe it will happen.

And considering I live near the geographic center of the country - on the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois - I'm assuming others on the coasts would get some shipments even sooner.

Now we just need to find out what they changed under the hood.

Has the oil cooling system been beefed up or fans added to it, do the automatics now have the dual system?

Has the manual transmission been beefed up?

Any changes to the fuel map...maybe something a little leaner?

I guess this info will come out in time.

I thought they were going to offer the 6 speed auto with the 6 port motor, but now I'm seeing YES to the 6 speed, but only the 4 port motor option? What happended to that or am I simply misinterpreting the information?

Fourflush has Navigation in his and his dealer called him yesterday to tell him his car status was "at port." My car has Navigation and was listed as shipped when I checked around the end of the week of Valentine's Day. I was told last week, however, that mine would take a little longer to get to me because they had an "availability issue" with some part or another, which I am assuming is port installed since it listed as shipped.

I really like this car in white, I think you can see the lines of the body better in the lighter colors. Plus, I've been in a four-year lease with a black car with black leather interior and am sick of only being able to keep it clean for approximately two hours!

Nice choice. The RX8 definitely looks good in white.

FYI...

I've heard that they ship them from port by train...it usually takes about 3 weeks to get them from the port to one of the midwest "hubs"...from there it takes a few days to the dealer....

I live in chicago, i feel your pain...i've been waiting like 9 months for an RX8...apparently the west coast gets their cars a month before we do...

I was told it takes between two and three weeks to arrive at my dealer from port. I was told they leave the port on a truck up to my dealership in Portland.

When I ordered my '05, it arrived in port August 14th.
Released from port: August 25th
Arrived at dealership: September 12th

-Navigation is installed in Japan. Very few things are done at port, mainly just cosmetic stuff; appearance pkg, things like that...

I thought Portland WAS a port?!!?

So if my build date is March 1, what do you all believe the most realistic timeline would be?

Took a little longer for you than what they quoted me. I was told once it arrived at port expect it in approximately three weeks. Two weeks at port and then approximately one more week to make it up to my dealer. I guess I'll have to see how that turns out. They've been wrong about 90% of the time so far with timing and dates!!!!

The only things I know for sure that are port installed are fender strakes (apparently a new option for purchase instead of accessory later) and the spoiler. I think it would be silly for them to ship my car without a spoiler available for it. At least according to what MNAO told me, they ship everything for the car with the car, including what needs to be installed still. The fender strakes option was not on the order list/specs at my dealer when I did the order so I had to get those separately and they are in the sales manager's office at this time waiting for the car (so they say ). That leaves only the spoiler I am aware of for sure. I'm not sure what it would be that they don't have available. I was told it was potentially something electronic, so maybe the shock sensor upgrade.

I don't know where everything gets installed at.

It is. Just not for our cars!!!

I know when my mom got her 93 Protege it was shipped to the port in Seattle and then trucked down to Portland. Apparently they go to San Diego now. That's where my dealer said all their cars ship to now.

I like the HP ratings of the AT. 212hp @ 7500rpm with Redline at 7500rpm. So basically you hit the fuel cut out right as you hit peak HP.

Beginning of May maybe. I can't remember. Are you getting the Shinka? If so, most likely in May is when yours will arive. Maybe a little sooner. As quoted to me when I ordered my car, expect it to arrive 6-8 weeks from its assigned build date.

I guess they spent time upping up the 4 port instead of going with a 6 port.

bunnygirl: expect that your estimated delivery date is going to be wrong.
Most people's cars were delivered around 7-10 days after the date given to them when they ordered the car.

Not trying to burst anyone's bubble, just dont' want you to be all disappointed if your car isn't there on that exact date.
