2007 or 2008 RX8

I'm thinking about buying a 2007 or 2008 RX8 BUT I'm hearing all these bad things about the 04 and 05. Are the 07 and 08 the same or do they have the same problems? So please get back with me at smackpower@hotmail.com thanks!!

Just avoid the '04s (or any car in its first-year-of-production).

uh maybe instead of having folks email you info you should hang out here for awhile educating yourself about the car.

For instance...did you know the 8 has no pistons?

I know it has 2 or 3 sparkplugs (can't remember) But are they "special" plugs that costs a fortune?

Get an 07' If you dont mind used then look for an 06'. The 04's are the one's with the most problems.

What size of rims do most people get on these RX8? Or do you guys keep the 18's in the back and 17's in the front?

its 18's all around stock unless its an auto w/o performance package then it's 16's all round

Looks like most people put 18's or 19's for aftermarket with a few 20's

PS: My '05 is flawless...

I didn't know that. I was looking at a 07 automatic RX8 yesterday and it had 18's in the back and 17's in the front. So what I want is a 07 or 08 RX8. So you would suggest 18's on all 4 wheels? or a different size?

^It's up to you. 19's will probably look better, but you might compromise a little performance because they will be heavier. But not by alot.

That's sounds wierd. Did they look like aftermarket rims? I'm pretty sure the 8 only comes with the same size rims front and back. If it's an auto with Performance Package then it should have 18's front and back. I would suggest at least getting this package which adds this stuff:

Performance Package AT

* Xenon headlights
* DSC with traction control
* Fog lamps
* Tochigi Fuji Limited Slip Differential
* 18" alloy wheels and 225/45R18 tires
* Larger brakes**
* Sport Tuned suspension**

I would really suggest getting a manual but...

When I get rims this spring I will probably go with 19's.

If I got 19's would it rub? So if I got a MT RX8, is the standard wheel size 18's in back and 17's in front? or ALL 18's?

19's rub? No not if you get the correct offset.

MT RX-8 comes with all 18's. And more power.

I'm with you on that. Don't want to pass up the opportunity to enjoy ever aspect of the silky smooth rx-8 drivetrain.
