When you buy a car through Costco all prices are set. There is no negotitions (sp). In AZ the price is $300 over invoice.

I used Costco when I special ordered my car. It was $400 over invoice in Oregon. It saved me around $4000, which was really good since I got my 06 out of the first shipment in March and there weren't any available discounts for them, not even MAC cash. Basically, you get the wholesale price on a car by using Costco, the price is locked in, no negotiations. It's so much easier that way.

You either call Costco's number (can find it on their website) or fill out the info. I prefer the phone method as you can be more selective in dealer choice. Otherwise they email you and you basically get whoever they assign. You will get a Costco confirmation and the dealership will contact you about what you want to buy. They have a few certain people that are authorized for Costco sales. These would usually be certain management people such as the internet sales manager, fleet manager, inventory manager. You can then either get something they already have or try to arrange a special order, which is what I did. It made buying the car really easy, except that it took four hours to finalize the paperwork since it was a weekend and they were quite busy and there was a line up. After it was finally my turn it only took about 20 minutes to sign the papers and get my keys.

Yup, I concur with what BunnyGirl said. Depending on the area where you live, some even paid less than invoice going through costco. It all depends what the true market value is for that area but costco is definitely the way to go....hassle free discount.
Also, any level of costco membership can get you the same deal however only Executive membership gets you discounts on parts and accessories.

You contact Costco anyway (which is why it is easier over the phone). They will contact a dealer and give you info so one or the other of you can contact each other. They you can tell them you want to special order an 07. That is how I special ordered my 06. I started this process back in October and the dealers didn't have ordering info for 06 yet, just some preallotted 06s assigned to them in the build order, so they changed specs on one of those cars for me to what I wanted to get. I got my car in March, so it took quite awhile. I thought I was going to go crazy waiting. LOL

They just starting building the 07 models this month. Website will probably not get updated till they get the cars to the dealers.
But you can still special order the 07 through a dealer even if they are not on Mazda's website.

Because I'm not buying any RX-8. I am buying MY RX-8, exactly the way I want color-options-accessories etc. There werent any available in my area for the setup I wanted. If I'm going to spend $35K on a car, I'm gonna get exactly what I want.
BTW, 07 is not more expensive. I got the 06 prices, as a matter of fact its cheaper because they added 6 CD changer standard in the GT.
