½mv², I think it's pretty obvious that people want it all and don't want to pay for any of it.
I understand your frustration, but I think you underestimate how important a warranty is. If you start adding parts like a turbo, you might as well never go to a dealer ever again. If anything breaks ever they're just going to blame the turbo. And even if you pay them to overhaul the engine that you blow and they do a **** poor job and it breaks again, they're not going to pay for the second time around because they'll claim the warranty on their fix was voided by the turbo. I wouldn't be surprised if most dealers wouldn't even touch you car with a turbo because they're afraid of the headache.
So, in the end, paying a huge markup for a dealer installed turbo might end up saving you money and a lot of aggravation.

I'm seriously getting tired of hearing people rag on Mazda for being "too lazy" to add on a few extra horses or make the car 'better'. Why don't you get off your *** and do something about it? It's not like the options aren't out there.

My rant wasn't really directed at anyone - just general bitching.
...And you've just helped me drive my point home.
The main reason most people here wont install the turbo is because they realize that no matter how little boost is run, or how professional the install job is, or how reinforced the engine is, it creates a significant risk of premature engine failure.
Now, if you don't want to risk the $6000 to put a turbo on your ONE car, where do you get off on giving mazda **** for not wanting to risk a couple hundred thousand dollars to install/warranty/repair their several thousand cars? That's all I'm getting at; RX8 + stock turbo = bankrupt mazda.

I put FI on my 8, my wife drove straight from the dealer to the speed shop.
Hey, get what you want. If you want the power then do it. I new engine is about 4K, I can live with that.
