According to Edmunds.com, Mazda has provided the dealer with an extra $1,000 cash back to play with.

Other than that, you have the gap between MSRP & Invoice to work upon.

I believe the 2011's landed very recently, and I haven't heard of anyone getting into one yet...

Unless you plan on keeping an 8 a very long time, you're better off finding a used '09 dirt cheap.

That's an idea, or another very smart idea would be to search for any remaining new 2010's around your area. Very aggressive rebates & dealer pricings are still active on those remaining 8's..

You are correct. As I recall, the rebates on the '09s were up to 5k, along with under invoice pricing from the dealership, so you were looking at 7-8k off MSRP. Just proves they practically had to give these away and I'm sure they will again this year. I remember some folks saying they were getting into R3s for around 25-26k new.

Plus for OP...as far as I know, there are no changes for 2011 which is another reason you might want to strongly consider used.

Also, the 2011s will be going for cheap after mid-next-year when dealers will be dying to get them off the lot, if you really want to buy new. So if you really want one, wait a bit.

I negotiated a price of $26,240 + ttl on my new '10 R3. I was hoping to save more, but the lack of patience got the best of me. I wonder how much more I could've saved if I waited. Yet if I waited, then this special version possibly would've been sold by then. Therefore, I just closed my eyes and pulled the trigger.

You make sense, but I don't think Mazda will bring out too many 2011's, since the market is extremely slow. I suppose Mazda may keep the prices steady, and the volume low.....Just like other dealers in this tough economy.

An Edmunds search of dealer inventory within a radius of 200 miles of my location shows a grand total of 15 available, only 2 being R3's, all being 2010's. Only minor financing incentives are being offered at present. I suspect the really good deals people were getting the past couple of years will not be available over the coming year. One questions why Mazda even bothers with it at this point. There's no profit in selling ~1000 cars/year (in the USA).

I just picked up a 2010 Sport AT for $3500 less than invoice, over 5k less than sticker. The dealership was very aggressive about getting rid of it. The wife is very happy with her new car.

Good point, and it puzzles my mind, as well.

This just proves even further that if you're in the market for a new 8, the '10 Model Year is the one to target.

Congrats to your wife and yourself on the new purchase!

Just for grins I was checking come prices today on 2010's and I found a dealer with 3 R3s that was willing to let them go for low 26k and I don't even see any posted cash rebates yet, so Mazda must be giving one hell of a kick back to dealerships right now. If that keeps up, wait a couple more months and you could probably get one in the low 20s once the huge cash rebates kick in. It's obvious they can't even give these cars away anymore.

Well, I have been lurking here for what seems like forever, and just picked up a new left over 2009 touring plus premium package for $22.5 which is about $7k off MSRP. Must have been sitting around on the dealers lot a long long time. Not many 2010's left in NorCall though.

Wow you found a 2009 on the lot still? I bought my 2009 Touring in December 2009 but it was sitting on their lot already for about a year. The 2010 were already out. I paid about $22500 but it did not have the premium package. Where did you find one and what color did you get?

Congrats on the awesome deal! You deserve every bit of it, especially because you waited so long. Enjoy it, and have fun!

It's velocity red. Got it Menlo Mazda in redwood city. Good experience despite crappy reviews on yelp. They also quoted me $21.5k on a black 2010 sport.

Interesting to see what happens to pricing/incentives on 12/1.

Also, just got back from the san Francisco auto show where i was surprised to see mazda showing a 2011 red R3.

hmmm....Makes me nervous on why I spent almost $5k more for my R3 a couple of months ago.

Oh well, I'm in love with my R3 now.

Nice! I wish you all the very best. (And I hope the discounts on those 8's start coming quickly for you)
