20B Rotary Engine

I'm pretty sure there were a few threads in the past about this, but I'm kind of new to this site so I would like to ask anyways. Would it be too much trouble to install the 3 rotor 20B Twin Turbo engine into the RX8? I was interested in buying this engine since its $5000 (not too bad), but what would the downfalls be?

Is it more advantagous to buy a motor with pure engine power or is it better to turbocharge/supercharge the stock motor?

I'm at an automechanic school so installation is not a problem, but at my level should I even trust myself to work on the rotary engine or should I pay someone else to do it (even tho it may cost as much as the engine or turbocharger itself)?

Here's the site I went on to: 20B TT Rotary Engine

Thank you all for your feedback.

You're underestimating the price quite abit... I believe that a few who have done the project, including fabricating all the parts they needed to, spent in the $20,000 range... It will cost you more than a turbo set up at least.. more power, but more expensive. Also, you might pass emissions with FI, but with 3-rotor I'm rather sure it's out of the question

Damn $20,000, but yea it makes sense with all the other modifications that are needed to fit the engine in just right....

Some things to remember about a 20B conversion is all the extra work you need to do to make it work properly.

You cant use the RX-8 box as it will snap like a twig. The diff will be at breaking point any time too

Engine management, additional cooling suspension upgrades and a whole lot more will all adversly effect your budget to the point where you will spend $20k without blinking an eye if you are going to do the job properly.

Half that can be spent on the 13B to get the same power with slightly less torque. Car remains balanced, less stressed & easier to run

Unless you are going hard core racing, leave the 20B engines in the Cosmo

In the "List of parts included" JSA lists a "Cam Angle Sensor." Why would a rotary engine need that? Or, are they just throwing it in to make life interesting for the next owner (?) LOL!
