In three years I've gone from averaging just over 15.5 to just over 17.5. I should hit 20 in another 4 years or so! :-) Jokes aside, it's kinda amusing how the graph just keeps climbing.

I'll see you Stew and Raise you.
1) 87 Octane all the time, tried 93 and saw no difference.
2) 18" All Season Avons
3) Mostly Urban 95% City Driving (stop lights every 3 to 6 blocks)
4) Moderately aggressive driving, red lined at least twice a day.
5) 75% of shifts between 3 and 6K
MPG: 12.5![Icon Tdown](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/icon_tdown.gif)

Honestly, I don't know what I get -- it would just make me sad.
With a lot of these cars coming off of warranty (like mine in 1000 miles), has anyone ventured to improve the fuel mapping for better MPG? My understanding is that these engines are running rich in order to keep Mazda from having to replace cats.

ok guys im new to the rotary engine, so i dont know the ins and outs yet, but wont low octane fuels lead to pre-detonation like in a typical engine? I know if I used anything under 90 or 91 octane in my 300zx it ran like crap and ping'd like hell....

I dont understand why there is always complaints over mileage. The the most fun I EVER had in my car was 25 miles and burned through a half a tank. You do the math.

Dont rev over 4k in any gear and get into 6th gear as soon as possible without choking car in any gear. When on highways dont drive over 65 mph. This is gramps way of driving but the only way to get good MPG on the 8...Hope this helps

You can never have enough data for comparison...
1- 93 octane always
2- OEM 8090s for 8 months, Winter Sport M3s for 4 months
3- Drive it like I'm stealing it 90% of the time
4- No cruise control
5- Aggressively driven & maintained
Conclusion: 17-18 mpg
But seriously, you don't drive the 8 to reduce your carbon footprint!
