We have this sort of problem in the UK too. Kids get into cars with a full complement of passengers, and then drive far too fast and crash them, usually killing most, if not all, the occupants.
Very sad, but avoidable according to Darwins theory. They had the choice though, as the driver would have been egged on by the equally stupid passengers...
I feel sad for the friends and family.

I agree we need to ban kids and some adults from driving them.
I don't care if he's 17 or 47, driving triple digits on a public road is beyond stupid, he got what he had coming to him, I just feel sad for the other 3 ppl in the car who died because of his stupidity.

I appreciate reading this as well.
And for those of you freaking out about a repost, get a grip! I spend a good 30 minutes to an hour on this site daily and hadn't seen this posted. So forgive those of us who have lives OUTSIDE of this forum for discussing relevant topics.
And how shallow and desperate are you that you not only read a post you've already seen before, but find it necessary to POST about how lame it is that you had to read it again?
Talk about borderline sociopathic behavior

what's amazing about this is that i've seen this on here for 3 times since yesterday, and there are 3 pages of replies. Now if that could only happen when someone asks a legit question...

It's no use to merge these threads together. You know the drill, a year later, someone will post this story again and it will be in some bizarre forum that have absolutely nothing to do with it.

Larger news story with graphics of the skid length and fall height. Lord, nothing is left of the car.

I wonder if the parents are going to: a) Sue Mazda or b) Sue the DOT for making it's barriers unable to contain a car traveling faster than 100 mph.

I thought cars bursting into flames only happened in the movies -- like 9 out of 10 movie car accidents end in weenie roasts where maybe one in 100 real accidents do.

At triple digits with no room for error I don't think DSC / TCS would have saved it. To run along the wall that far he must have broken the steering on first impact and it just kept its momentum.

600+ lbs in a 3000lb car does not help it's stopping distance. Sadly that's why so many multiple teen deaths occur. A loaded vehicle just doesn't drive the same.

I am 16. Kids like that kid that made a bad decision give teens a bad name. I have never even come close to doing that in my 8 and I would NEVER do it it with other people in my car... best friends or not.

I always wonder why they don't make those barricade things taller. I go over this one bridge on 95 with them and it scares the crap outta me. If they had been the 6 ft variety there's probably a better chance the car woulda stayed on the ramp. It may have flipped over, but that's a whole lot better than plummeting to your doom.
