4 hours old - and some idiot rearends me!
No pics, was a very slow bump, about 7km/hr. No real damage, small chip out of the license plate holder and scratch on the bumper, but man i was livid. I've had the car for 4 hours, picked it up at 10 am - and this idiot in an econo-box who wasn't paying attention dings it! I couldn't believe it. Got his license etc. and he's paying to have the bumper repainted.
Other than that - wow what a fun car. 120 km in the first 3 hours. Super fun. Will post the obligatory new car pics once the rain stops heh.

Oh man, that's a real bummer. Talk about taking all the joy out of getting a new car. Don't let it spoil things for you, enjoy your new car and congrats!

I can relate
Less than 24 hours after I got my 8, some jerkoff in a huge pickup truck backs into me. I was in the left turn lane, he decided he couldn't make it before the light turned so he reversed. He was a total jerk, wouldn't give me his insurance info and drove off. He blamed me for "not getting out of his way."
Anyway, I was livid too but fortunately, the damage wasn't too bad but man...
Anyway. congrats on your 8.

That's unbelievable.
Like Hachi said though, don't let it spoil your excitement for this great car! Look at the positive side: it could have been worse, and he is taking responsibility for the little damage that was done.

Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy it and be careful out there in the rain.
Man, I would've followed him and at least gotten his license plate number to report to the cops. That's a hit and run.

I called the cops and gave them licenese plate number. Don't know if anything happened. I've been traveling a whole bunch for work so I wasn't around to follow-up in person with the police.

Penman, my MX-6 was on its third rear bumper when I traded it in--first one lasted all of two weeks. Not sure how it is up in Vancouver, but I fear this happening each time I drive to work and back in L.A. traffic with tailgating morons in SUVs on cell phones in my rear-view mirror. Anyway, doesn't look too bad from the pic, and it seems like you're taking it in stride since it sounds like the guy will pay for it and it shouldn't be hard to fix. Anything much worse, though, and I'd have insisted on a new bumper, period. He doesn't know how lucky he is.

Hey Budebaker:
I also had a jerkoff in a huge pickup back into me at a left turn lane. I got his plate number, called the police, filed a report, and contacted HIS insurance through his tag number (he left the scene after he told me he would meet me across the street, away from traffic). No witnesses, so the police couldn't give him a ticket. He told his insurance company that I hit him!! His first words after the accident? "I didn't see you because your car was too low." Bumper needs to be replaced, and I'll have to pay the deductible through my insurance. At least I had the car for four weeks, not four hours. Will be purchasing jerkoff voodoo doll with lots of sharp pins.

My shiny black 8 was less than two weeks old when a truck carrying paint cans dropped a can of white onto the road.
I hit it under the car and the whole passenger side was covered in white splatter.
Easier fix than a bumper after an hour in the detail shop, you can't tell it happened but I was less than happy.

And the worst part was that both his and my insurance companies decide it was my fault I had to pay for every thing out of my pocket so that my insurance wouldn't rape me.
They tought us in school that if someone driving in reverse is involved in an accident they are always to blame.
