i'm into buying an rx8 and i just came across a 2004 rx8 and it seems to be a 5 speed m/t with the multi port renesis engine.

i know that rx8 came automatic and 6 speed manual with the 6 port engine and with a 5 speed m/t transmission with the 4 port engine.(NOT AVAILABLE IN USA)

can you mate a 5 speed m/t to a 6 port engine? the owner also said that is factory and not modification.

can you also tell how can i check if the engine is the 6 port and not the 4 port? i can only see the chassis number and the plastic cover on the top that it shows that is a multi port renesis engine.

of course you can any time replace this plastic cover so i need to know for sure if he is trying to screw with me or its a truth.

 

Where are you located? What's the tach redline at? I don't think the owner knows what he has.

As far as know it was 192 version (5 speed with 4-port) and the 231 version (6-speed with 6-port) available in Europe which would both be multi port. Do the 4-ports not say multi-port on the engine cover?

 

The auto has fewer ports and less power because it cannot handle a 9000 rpm redline, so I don't think they would have a six port in there. But don't buy an auto

7500=4port

8500=6port

 

7500= 6 port auto as well. they make a 6-speed 6 port auto too you know. I have one

I believe the car in question is a 5MT not an auto...

 

This would be the lower powered 4 port M/T that wasn't released in the States and Canada. Europe, Asia and Australia had the 4Port M/T.

Still limited to the 7500 redline, because the lack of the 2 extra ports. it has reached its Max VRE.

 

Please make mental note............ Mazda Australia is run by ***** that think 90% - 100% mark ups on the same car the USA + Japan gets is ok.

So there was no "base level" 4-port 13B-MSP MT version available down under

All 4AT versions (03-07) run the 4-port 13B-MSP

The series-II (due out in JUN-08) will have the 6AT 6-port engine to match the manual version.

Most people don't even talk about AT on sports cars in Europe, but the 5 MT car has 4 ports (and 191hp or so) at least in Norway and prolly Europe. Only the 6 MT has 6 ports (231hp).
