6th gear

4000 rpms = 80 mph in my car and another RX-8 owner told me the same. As gukdoebabdoe said, this would be 70 mph @ 3500 rpms. At 5000 you should be going 100 mph !

that seems a bit high to me. there is an exact answer to this.
in 3rd, 70 mph is 7000 rpms
this is true, i assume, for all stock rx8s.
not sure what it is in 6th, but there's a mathematical formula available to find it. i'm not sure what that is either.

in 6th gear, every 20mph is 1k rpm.
2k rpm = 40mph
3k rpm = 60mph
4k rpm = 80mph
5k rpm = 100mph
6k rpm = 120mph
7k rpm = 140mph
8k rpm = 160mph
9k rpm = 180mph
at least for me. i dont know about the last half personally, but its been accurate for the first half. my tires are 245/40/18.
2k rpm = 40mph
3k rpm = 60mph
4k rpm = 80mph
5k rpm = 100mph

there should be a mod for taller gearing in 6th....lol
the scion tC i used to have also revved pretty high too. at around 80mph in 5th it was close to 4k. does crap for hwy mpg's.....

The way I remember rpm vs mph for each gear is that at 3000 rpm the speed for 2nd through 6th is pretty close to 10 times the gear number.
That makes it easy to figure out which gear I'm in without looking at the shift lever or remembering what I just did.
