8 influx :?
Hmm, lately in the past 4 months or so i've been seeing a HUGE influx of rx8's. i read here about the car being rare and people only seeing maybe 2 or 3 in thier town, but every friday i go out to a hangout spot about 2 miles away( i live in los angeles, ca), and EVERY friday between the 4 mile trip of street travel i see 4 to 5 RX-8s i see more rx8's than Z's, and this isnt just one incident, its practically every week for the past few months.
not that it bothers me that the rx8 is no longer coveted or rare or anything, but its just intresting to see such a HUGE influx of the cars considering in early early 05 and late 04 there were nearly none. Am i just being paranoid and seeing so many 8's just because i can spot the car so easily?
TIA,
stealthfox

I agree with you Stealthfox.
I've been seeing plenty of 8's lately. It's like a sudden burst of people started to buy the car. In my community, right now, there are still more Z's and G35's than 8's. I'm hoping it stays that way. I like it when people stare :D

I see a lot more of them too, but don't forget the numbers will keep on increasing simply because of continuing sales. It's a good thing to own a car that has support in the marketplace. It helps resale, and it will insure Mazda's commitment to this, and future models.

I live In Virginia Beach, VA (East Coast for you Geographically Impaired). Before I purchased my 8, I only saw about (3) 8's on the road over several months. I have yet to see one on the road here (Other than mine!!!) in the past month or so. This leads me to wonder... Regionally maybe the 8 is more prevalent in certain areas of the country. I personally like the fact that it seems my area is not saturated with them, but I would imagine that in time that will change.

There are 17,900 people registered to this board (think about that one for a moment). Almost all of them have a RX8. We have heard that 50,000 were sold in one model year in the US alone. There may be areas of the US where there are few Mazda dealership to sell and support the car. But where there are, it is doing well.

intresting, i believe nationwide the rx8 sells considerably better than the s2000, but then again the s2000 has been around a bit longer than the rx8.
im going to go with certain areas do having more rx8's than others as i hear of various people saying "oh i see a ton of them or "i see them once in a blue moon" from various places.

Wasn't it was just shy of 30,000 first year with typical dropoff after that? I think the numbers support sales akin to the 350Z, in the 20-25,000 a year range.
By the eyeball, 8's are still way back from Z's around here. I see several 350Z's daily, 8's are a non-daily occurence yet - that's obviously changing. WRX's are a dime a dozen (at least the blue or black ones). S2000's are still pretty uncommon here.

In my corner of the world I've only seen a black, white, silver , plus my silver. I talked to two of them and they were not aware of this forum site until I mentioned it to them .They seemed interested in joining .

there are definitely more Z's around here than 8's. i see maybe 1 0r 2 8's per week and some of them are the same person i see driving to and from work. i have yet so see another blak rx-8 around here.
in fatc, i think i see more blue Z's than all rx-8 colors combined.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, they are starting to become more common.
I bought mine in April 2004, I hadn't seen a single one on the road before I bought it.
I used to get a LOT of attention with this car. The attention started out to be fun, but quickly grew old. Now I see at a minimum 2-3 8's per day (Different ones, varying colors). I still get a fair amount of attention, but not like a year ago
I think the 350z and G35 are still more common around here. But the 8 seems to have passed up the S2000 in popularity (At least in my un-scientific observations). But all of these cars combined can't hold a candle to the number of Prius's I see on Bay Area roads.

Thats weird, with me its the opposite. I only see one RX8 a week around where I live, if I'm lucky I'll see 2. But when it comes to 350Z's, G35's and S2000's, I see them every day without even trying. Guess it depends on where you live. I know there are many of RX8 owners where I live, but I hardly ever see them.

Maybe the typical 8 owner buys these to hide 'em in a garage and drive it when it's nice on weekends.
I do see quite a bit of 'em around here (broward county, FL). At the very least one a day, sometimes I'll get 2 or 3 in addition to mine within visual range of each other at the same time on the superslab!
Here in Broward, it's a tossup -- sometimes I see more 350Z, sometimes I see more Rx-8. I'd call it about even.
What I don't see very many of are G35C (tons of sedan G35) and maybe 2-3 S2000s per *week*.

I have the only 8 in greater LaCrosse WI of 100,000 people. There is not a Mazda dealer within 120 miles of here. I continually get stares, comments, and thunbs up. The other day at a stop light the guy next to me yelled..that's an awesome car..Kinda neat being the only one!!
