This whole thread reminds me of a buddy of mine in high school who made fun of my Celica because it was a automatic. The guy drove a pos Datsun B210 with **** green carpet inside. I told him that if he didn't like it he didn't have to ride in it. I took his sister out in it instead.

I know what you mean. I was made fun of because of the writing on the side of my car (79 Mustang Indy Pace Car edition) by a guy who drove a sh*t brown Mercury Lynx (Ford Escort twin).

 

The "chick car" debate gets dragged up routinely (usually on Tuesdays, for some reason) on the Miata forum. It's really sad that males feel the need to defend their masculinity in light of their automotive choices.

God only knows why a V6 Mustang with an automatic transmission qualifies as a "guy car" but a Miata or an 8 or a MINI (all great-handling driving enthusiast's cars, btw) is a "chick car"! Who cares???

Of course, I'm a chick with two Miatae and an 8*, so maybe there is something to this after all.

*edit: all manuals, too. :D

RX8 = sleek, & available in auto. very cute. chicks love it
Ford lightning = impractical, hideous, & not available in auto. manly
Nissan 240 SX = cute in stock form. extremely masculine when tuned.
Miata = see 240 SX
S2000 = more masculine than RX8. needs a hardtop.
I usually look for a few things to tell if its a girl's car. Wheels on stock suspension, **** dangling from mirror, seat covers, air vent fans, license in the window, & clothes in back seat are usually an accurate indicator.

I am a chick and I love my 8. It is interesting how many guys wanna stop me and ask me to take them for a ride, even the local pharmacist wanted a ride! The attention from guys is amazing, and I love it and my car. This is by far the best car I have ever owned, and I have owned about 20 different cars/trucks through the years.:D

 

Make that one more chick.... GT, MT..... lovin' every minute of it!

 

I dunno about you, but I think Minis are gay. I even read an article on a car magazine stating that Minis and Audis are the gay community favorites. Go to SF and see for yourself

Bubble, I will try to avoid the "Exploder" whether its a chick car or not. On a couple levels that sounds like something Ford makes.
Aratinga, is the dog in the pic a Shiba Inu? Love those dogs and yes it is very cute. RX8Bliss, hot is an adjective I have never used to describe dogs, cute and I am with you, but hot makes me think you might be a little to into dogs. J/K

 

I get made fun of for driving a Miata being told its a chick car or I look gay, but then when the GT28/35 dual ball bearing turbo spools up to 15psi 300rwhp on pump gas in a 2300lb car that handles better than most things out there, and I can put the top down, I could care much less. Never heard of the RX-8 being a chick car though, but I of course see no reason why girls wouldn't like it.

 

If there is ONE car out there that turned out to be a chick car, it is the Mini- most of my car freak friends certainly think so. I remember AOL had a "chick car" segment once- Jettas, VW Cabrios, definitely chick cars.....

Anyone who thinks the Mini is a chick car has never driven one, they're fun as hell, and no one should be ahsamed to own one.

The 8 is not a chick car, unless it's in Pearl White or Lightning Yellow.

CHICK here and I love my 8.

 

The way I think about it.... approx. half of all cars sold are sold to women. That makes chick cars 50/50. So actually, ANY car can be a chick car. Personally, if I had to think of a car that had cheap styling (most chic cars referred to on here are not very sleek)... I would have to say that most trucks are chic cars here. I'm in the South, and A LOT of women drive trucks. It's a power thing. And if you really think about it.... the other non-truck women drive SUVs. That said, take a look around, most sport cars are male drivers or VERY fun chics. I would imagine that most men would tolerate very fun chics :D

 

chicks in trucks are funny and often a great source of amusement.

I was dropping off my son for pre-school a few weeks ago (before i had my 8) and one of the soccer moms there is showing off her H2 to the other moms.

She's pointing out that she decided on the H2 because it had a full size spare. Sure lady, like you're going to change the tire on an H2 by yourself.

Also funny was watching her trying to turn out of the lot. She didn't have enough room and was going to have to run a tire over the curb. Rather than do that. She backs up, turns again, backs up again etc. 4 times!! You're in a H2! just run over the curb and anything else in your way. [/rant]

The rx8 looks like a stallion stud to me with beutifull lines that attract babes as well. My wife drives the 8 but no way do I percieve it as a chick car. Chick magnet is more like it. The car appeals to both sex's, all ages, all races of people.

It's a gorgeous machine
