8 years, 100,000 mi extended warranty.

I talked to the 1-800 number and talked to a customer service rep named Lisa. When I asked here about the people who had purchased the extended warranty, all she said was to call the 3rd party that it was through and ask them about a refund on the remaining pro-rated value....but suggested I keep the warranty for other items that the new engine warranty didn't cover.

The market will take care of that. I'm thinking this can only help, since it removes a fear point. Possibility of a seal going is the one distinguishing possibility for this car. But that's not my real concern now.
I got my 96/100 package yesterday. It included the DVD. The DVD package looks exactly the same as the one that came with the car. But it's still wrapped in cellophane, so I can't check the DVD itself for identicalness without unwrapping it.
What I'm wondering is whether the future collectable value of this DVD be diminished if I remove the cellophane to check the DVD itself?

Ken, note that the product code number is exactly the same on both the new and old DVDs. I'm thinking that it's unchanged. I don't recall any recent TSB's that countermand or alter any of the material covered in the old DVD, either. So I'm keeping my second one in the cellophane.
eBay in 20 years, lol!

Finally got my extended warranty notice. I was beginning to think they put me on some list because I posted OP'd this thread before their announcement. Funny, I haven't even looked over the material because I already know everything that's in it. It's kind of like sneaking a peak at your presents before Christmas morning.

Now that you've got a DVD that says non-synthetic, you've been warned. Expect a visit by a Ninja team who will confiscate your warranty.

My original DVD (came with my '06) said non-synthetic. If you have an earlier one that does not, hang onto it. Your pair of DVDs should have a higher collectable value than either version alone. What's the product code on your old one?

does not know the long term effects ... yeah ... sure ...
30+ yrs ago, its not the user's fault that Mazda used cheap seals and caused tons of engines to seize. Mazda made it sound like user's fault or something.
If a ninja team does come to my home, Im gonna Kung Fu chop their *** down.

Canadian Waranty 8yr -160,000 km
I got the same verification from David & Jason G (Parts & Service Reps @ Mazda Brampton, Ontario) They mentioned that it's just the internal rotor components (not including housing) either way it's comforting to know you have this safety net somewhat. It's something that they will look up internally on their system, so just ask or call in like i did if you need verification

Yeah, I saw that on my paperwork, but then again..............reality may be different?
Probably depends on how clear/clean the paperwork you submit actually is.........ya know?
I would assume they are gonna look at it pretty hard and weed out the sketchy ones, but who knows.

Okay, I just received the letter and DVD.
My next question is..........what exactly does it do for me?
I have 82K miles.....took it into the dealer three weeks ago for an oilchange and asked for
the MSP16 reflash, that whole deal, but was denied due to it being out of warranty.
If I take it back now, what can I expect?
Are they supposed to do the reflash now?
The car runs fine as far as I know......BUT, I did not drive it when it was lower mileage.
In other words I have no "before" versus "now" reference.
So for all I know it may be running less than optimal.
For all I know the engine may be ready to die.
Ideally, I guess for peace of mind I guess I'd want a dyno(?) compression test, I dunno.
Whatever it takes to get a more comprehensive check of the system rather than just a visual once-over.
So.........................what are the magic words to say? Engine loss of power? Rough idle?

Good for you! I was loudly advocating it as a recall then got shouted down by zoom44, and when it got pulled as a recall from the Mazda web-site, I gave up. I ended up paying $45 for it. C'est la vie.
Thanks for at least helping me believe that I'm not crazy.
