Check engine light is on The SSV Valve is stuck open. Not sure if I want to look at it myself or have the dealer do it for me. For now, it is driving better then ever. The difference is night and day. I wonder how long the engine has been going bad before it **** the bed.

No problems yet...just a broken motor mount which causes some shifter shake but I'm up in the 70k range and was just wanting to look into it just in case something happens within the next 27k.

Thakns for the link, but it doesnt help too much I have a different CEL P2070 which is the SSV Valve. It could be dirty and stuck open, mistakenly left unplugged or the connection is loose, or the solenoid is bad. Im hoping its just dirty since I have found oil in my intake on multiple occasions thanks to my brother trying to set new oil change speed records lol.

Also, since I brought the car to the dealer, I was dealing with MazdaUSA. The dealer initially told me it was going to be $550 or so for the new engine and cat and then I got it for $160 after MazdaUSA phone calls started to pour in. The one tech I have been working with seems like a cool guy and if possible, will help me out. He may program a new key for me for all the troubles ive been through

No. The DSC on/off will not effect your Engine warranty. It's not launch control on a GT-R. Oh, did I say that

Are we talking about the partial disabling of DSC/TC, or full?

Either. The DSC/TC has nothing to do with this warranty and does not effect the Engine at all. Although a dealer might try to pull that on you, just make sure it's enabled when you bring it in and they will not know that it was disabled in the first place.

Checkout rx8blog.com; the guy there says that if you do the complete disable, that it gets logged in memory that cannot be accessed to be erased, even with the secret menus if you have the nav system.

Correct, forgot about that. However, this is not something that the dealer is looking at when the engine is having problems.

Not to go too far off topic, but what's left enabled in the "half-disabled" mode of the DSC? I haven't yet fully disabled mine, but the half mode runs fantastic - I can slide and drive horizontal all I want. How does the 8 handle differently with it fully disabled?

when you hold the button down for a few seconds you will get the dcs off icon then keep holding it down and you will get the squiggly lines icons that when its fully off. It will stay that way till you turn off the car then turn it back on i believe.

Am I the only one who doesn't have to hold the button for 2 seconds? I just press the button and let go and I get the DSC Off light.

Did that change for 09? I have an 09, and my manual says simply to press the button and everything is off. I have verified (many times over) that traction control is not on after I press that button (no holding it).
