800miles Brake rotor??

My 05 has only 800 miles on it, Someone pointed out today that my drivers side Brake rotor has groves in it, I rubed my hand over it and there is a couple of groves all the way around the rotor. This guy said this isnt nornal and that my rotor will be shot after a few thousand miles?? I am going to take it in but can anyone tell me what this problem is so I can make sure the dealership is fixing it right?? thanks
