well just got back from my friends body shop...just looking at it he is estimating about $4000 at least. good news is i didn't like those passenger doors and i'm getting new ones...along with some carbon fiber b-pillars and all my emblems on my trunk removed and the whole trunk filled and repainted.

she is still asking my not to file a claim with her insurance company cause she can't afford her rates to go up!!! she would rather pay out of pocket. no offense but the chik-fil-a you work at...i don't think it pays that good!

oh well starts the long waiting process.

a very dangerous route for you, and by law, one you do not have to take. So she says she will pay out of pocket. How do you have assurance that she has enough money to start and finish the job? The body shop is only going to take your money or an insurance company's money. If any of her checks are bad, the body shop is going to put a lien on your car. Or take adverse posession and sell your car to cover the unpaid bills. $500 bucks is one thing, $4k or more is a whole other story.

Time for the insurance company my friend.

(BTW, I worked for a body shop many years ago. Just like a cop or a judge, the owner of a body shop has heard every imaginable story. They have zero tolerance for non-payment.)

oh i'm not that stupid to let her pay out of pocket. i filed a claim with her insurance company yesterday and got the paperwork started. i'm not gonna bother calling her and leave it to the insurance companies now.

my friend will be doing all the work and he does alot of high end vehicles and assured me he can match the paint with no problem! i hate waiting...

Just my 2 cents.
That's just it though, it's not like you're moving. He can turn right and then you can figure out if you can turn left. I just hate when someone pulls up in the left lane in a busy street when I'm turning right since I only have to worry about traffic from one direction.

Sorry for your pain man, OUCH...I know it hurt very bad. Sorry!

I hope she at least said sorry! OK, so I'm moving my mother-in-law and I park the moving truck with the ramp extended (MOVING TRUCK WITH RAMP EXTENDED) and this little rich girl backs up her car and runs over the lower part of the ramp. She drove the car like she was mad to a stop, and came out and started looking at her car. She did not say anything (good thing for her, I sometimes aint to Christian when it comes to driving a car or car related stuff, I"m working on it) but walked around her car and looked so angry. I was just waiting for her to open her mouth (again, Im working on my car related attitude).

It was her fault for not being careful enough and if she would have damaged the ramp she would have paid for it not me. So, I kinda understand what happend to you but adding in a RX8 to that story just breaks my heart. Sorry man...good luck!

It happens. I can attest to it. People don't see me barreling down the road all the time and enjoy cutting me off.

I think that people go more out of their way to cut off the RX8 than plainer cars. My other cars are just domestic sedans and I can drive them way faster with way less idiocy surrounding me. In the 8 I have had people jump out of the right lane to block me often. I can't think of any instances of this occuring in my other cars.

Trust me, it happens more the way you are talking about (you are turning right, they block you in the left lane). And what's worse about that is, usually it's forever until they can go! and you have to wait the entire time.

But it also happens the other way around - sometimes they pull up and stop, and when they have the break in traffic to turn right (which would have been your break too) by the time they have gone and you can see the opposite side of the road - you've missed your chance and you have to wait another round.

STOP signs should say STOP AT THE STOP LINE - ESPECIALLY SUVs! YES, THAT MEANS YOU!

well i have tried calling the adjuster asigned to my claim 3 times today with no answer and no call back. i've now been told by a body shop and my maszda tech that i shouldn't be driving the car cause the door is very unstable. so now i get to to the rental car thing out of my own pocket. i've heard nothing but bad things about allstate insurance and now i get to experience them!!! yay for me!

I had to deal with Allstate when some lady in a minivan hit my Miata. They gave me a run around and after 5 phone calls I had to DRIVE the car to them since they did not classify it as unsafe. As for a rental car my experience is that Allstate told me after getting the claim they had to verify the accident with the policy holder before accepting responsibility. Until then they were not going to pay for a rental. You can call your own insurance company and submit a claim (when you do this you pay your deductible) if you have rental coverage they will get you a car and let your own insurance contact allstate and collect the $$ and they will reimburse you for the deductible. This is what I know of Insurance. Good luck.

IMHO, Allstate is the worst auto insurance company to negotiate with. I practice personal injury law so I deal with them almost daily. THEY ARE EVIL.

Mr. Ed,

Sorry to hear about your accident. It's fortunate that the other party has insurance. You don't want to be in the position for your unisured motorist to kick in to pay for someone elses mistake.

I know it's difficult to see your baby in an accident, but believe me, it will be good as new, and you will feel great again. I know from experience.

My baby was in an accident about 6 months ago, on my way to work. I was going down an urban three lane when I see this BMW coming up fast behind me. For about 1/4 mile he shadowed me, barely a car length off my bumper. God I hate this because I know that I have great brakes (best I ever had in a car), and I know even if I had to stop, most cases the other guy can't because their car is not as well equipped and especially being about a car length behind me.

Anyway, as luck would have it, up ahead I saw traffic slowing down quickly in my lane and I switch lanes to the right, whch at that time was still moving. Besides I wanted this joker off my tail. About a second or two after I entered the right lane, the traffic in my lane abruptly came to a stop. About that same time, this Bimmer also switched to my lane, continuing to shadow me. I was able to stop with no problem . Unfortunately, I knew no way that this Bimmer was going to stop in time. About the time he was going to impact me, I let up on my brakes slightly and then I felt this jolt. I knew by letting up on the brakes helped, but from the impact I said to myself "Crap, I know there is still going to be damage.

I got out, to inspect the damage. Where, I wondered? I finally noticed a few chips of paint missing from my bumper, NO damage to the trunk or rear metal (fortunately), NO broken tail lights (even more fortunate), a bent license plate, and my rear chrome rotor emblem tarnished and dented. It was obvious that this Bimmer took a nose dive when he applied the brakes and slid under my bumper, causing little damage to my car.

I figured there couldn't be too much damage to the other guy. Wrong! Found out that this mid 90's M3 had a dented hood, two broken headlights, the kidney shaped chrome broken and hanging out, a cracked grill, cracks in his bumper, broken fog lights, and last but not least, a cracked spoiler.

This "Rico Suave" type gets out with his model girlfriend and apologizes, admitting his fault, and can't explain why he didn't stop in time, and questioned how in the world did I stop in time. I just replied with a , "Great brakes". This guy knew he had a lot of damage, because he had front end work before, and figured someone in the neighborhood of $3000k +. Looking at my car, and astonished at how little damage I had, he wanted to settle with no claim. He said he was in a similar accident about 4 months ago (wonder why?), and didn't want his rates to climb. Then to top it off, he wanted us to move the cars to a parking lot, and say it happened there. I said no way. I knew he was at fault, and wanted his insurance to settle, so I called the highway patrol. Even though my car had little external damage, I didn't know what kind of damage might have been behind the bumper.

Well, the troopers arrived in their Camaro, "Rico" got ticketed for "failure to stop" and later towed, his insurance (Allstate) settled (about $850 damage on my car), and my car was back to new.

You know the best part of the this unfortunate incident. One of the State Troopers looked at my car and said, "That's a sharp looking car, especially in red".

"Do you like it, because I was thinking of getting one?", he asked.

I relied with a big :D , and proudly relied "Love it. It's the best car I have ever owned".

Sorry for the long winded post.

God... not AllState - I got into a wreck back in highschool, it was the guy who REARENDED me's fault, but the cops goofed the first accident report, stating I was behind him. I jumped through hoops to get it fixed. At the time all I had was liability, about a year after the fact - 1 year - my dad calls me at college to inform that they found the accident to be 60% my fault (the cops ruled it no fault), and my rate went up. I hate AllState, and FYI this was an AllState there in NorthRichland Hills or Watuaga can't remember which exact city the branch was in, but you could end up with the same knuckleheads I did. Just don't stop harrassing them. My sister had an unpleasant experience after another AllState client sideswiped her. It took a lot of harassing from her and my dad to finally get it settled for a reasonable amount. I think they tried every trick in the book to get my sis to settle for less.
Anyhow, I have State Farm now, and have for a long time, and the kick ***. Always appraise things for an ample amount and are very timely and just do a good job. Of course I probably pay a little more to use them, but with car insurance I think you get what you pay for, what sucks is when someone nails you, you've got to mess with what they pay for. You're insurance may step up to help out if things get ugly (state farm did for my sis in the above mentioned incident).

Suggest to them you're thinking of getting an attorney to handle the claim. I got hit by a car a few years ago while I was walking through a parking lot. The driver's insurance company was on the phone quick wanting to interview me and access my medical history without going through my lawyer. Maybe they'll realize it's better to stop jerking you around than to have you hire a lawyer who knows the system and will squeeze them for triple what they'd have otherwise paid you.

Here I hope this helps all people when they go to quote out insurance. MY wife works in commercial insurance and says this is the best website to see how CONSUMERS rate thier own companies. I found it to be a very informative website.

www.badfaithinsurance.com

If you look Allstate is in the bottom 3 of consumer happiness.

tihs doesn't seem like it is going to be promising...

but thats pretty sad when all the major insursnce companies are among the worst. i guess it is just due to the high volume they get.
