Yes. Change it :P

Sports cars != Auto.

(But I'm from the UK, were not even used to electric windows yet...)

Well, stupid is a bit rough. If you are regretting your descision then call your dealer and have it changed. You don't have to take delivery of your car if there is something you don't like.

I almost went automatic myself because my wife can't drive a stick (and refuses to learn); but all my cars have been manual and I couldn't switch to auto on such a sweet car like the Rx8. In the end it comes down to what is best for you.

Change it if you like, until you sign the papers you can always make changes.

Gotta go with manual. I really don't know how to drive stick that well but I'm practicing every now and then. It would annoy me to no end to get the 210hp base model when there's the more powerful gt model out there. If you have to sacrifice learning stick then so be it.

If you like auto, then no, it is not stupid choice. If you like manual, then yes, it is. Whatever you want, you should get it. If you dont like manual then just get auto. Or vice versa.

If you go manual you get 250hp versus 210hp. Go with manual

Jins: it all depends on the individual preferences.
Surely there's a reason why you choose the auto rather than the manual, but i guess you need a second opinion.

Well, which ever decision you make, you still bought a good all around car! If where you live have tons of trafic jam then by all means get the auto. But im not sure about the strength of the auto transmission, though!?!

In the previous rx7 version of the auto, the transmission was taken from a Mazda MPV and it couldnt handle all the power and heat that the FD3S produces. So do some research first! I myself dont know this answer. Anyone??

*wisper* get the manual...

Cool Auto for wife?

I bought my last two cars in Auto for my wife, but the '8' will be a manual. Wifey doesn't like high power cars - refuses to drive the StealthTL, says it is 'possessed'.
Enough mistakes, she can drive the Pathfinder, the RX-8 will be Red/Red Leather 6MT, GT pack.

My wife didn't drive a stick either but note the past tense!
When it was time to replace her car I cajoled her into buying a manual
and after some weeks where she used language (implying parentage I never
imagined I might have had) that would make a sailer blush,
she is now able to (in her words):
listen to music, eat, drink, talk on the cell phone, shush the baby in the back seat ...
and drive.

My next project is to convince her about the benefits of a Quattro class on the track.
