about the 15K maintainence

Howdy all,

Quick question: My car is sitting at 20K miles and I know there is a 15K service thing that is schedualed in the book. The thing is, ive taken immaculate care of my car personally, oil changes ever 3K miles, put in a new K&N filter, changed tranny oils and maintained all the fluids properly.

My question is, do I really need to go and spend extra money to have mazda poking around under my hook doing things or changing things that dont really need it? My reason for asking is because I don't want the lack of my taking it to mazda at 15K to somehow come back and bite me in the *** later down the road. You know if they dont see it in their records and be able to say "well you have been neglecting your car"

Any input is welcome!

Jeff

there is really not much to do beyond the normal oil changes till you hit 30k miles. At that point you might want to change your brake fluid and coolant.

Jeff, sounds like youve pretty much covered everything in the 15k service anyway.
If i were you, i'd keep a dated log book of things you do yourself. If anyone gives you problems you can throw the book at em. also keep any receipts for Oil, filters etc. you should be golden.

I don't think it's necessary, but I did it just to be safe... I usually follow the sticker and then thats when I would go in and get my oil changed.....

This morning, in total I spent 98.50, for oil change/oil filter, rotating tires, new cabin air filter which was dirty as hell and not to mention labor costs..... A little pricey, but hopefully it was worth it...

cabin air filter costs about $20 and can be changed in under 2 minutes (It's located behind your glove box).

You can get a much better cabin air filter (Aldehyde) for about $44, which will filter out allergens and other particles.

Here's the DIY: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-aldehyde-cabin-air-filter-installation-8353/

You need to be careful. If you don't go to your scheduled services, you might run into the posibility that Mazda may void your warranty.!!!!!
