about the 2010 renesis
what do you know about the renesis coming out in 2010?
what do you think mazda will add to the new engine?
do you think it will be used for, a new rx8 or rx7 or something we dont know about yet?
do you think it would be better to buy an rx7 fd now and wait for the new renesis or jsut go for the rx8 now?
just some questions out of curiosity and decision making.

summary reply:
We don't know anything concrete except mazda has said they are working on a new one. Some people think bigger displacement, others think with a small electric supercharger for the lower RPMs. Some say for both a new rx-7 and rx-8.
The truth is no one knows for sure. Everyone here has high hopes, though I doubt we'll hear anything solid until 2009.

even when it comes out, i wouldnt get a first model year of something that....unique.....first model year cars have...teetthing issues that have to be ironed out, the MY after that is usually good to go. i got an 06 rx8 on purpose so i wouldnt have to worry about the fuel tank, dynamic damper, ball joint, air bag, etc etc etc recalls that plagued the first MY rx8s.....and there r so many rumors itd be useless to make a huge financial descision now.
for all we kno its a 1.5l direct injected all aluminum renesis that has an electrically assisted turbo making 300 hp and gets 20mpg......thats how little we know.........

I guess it depends on how much money you have, and what you have to do with it. I bought my RX8 in 2006, I'll finish paying for it in 2010... at that time I could wait a year or two and see what happens before my next car purchase. If you have the money now, maybe you'd do the same? Maybe you lease a car for a 3 years or so?
It's a tough question, but you're putting up a known against speculation and hope. I think the many realists on this board would go for the known.
I guess that didn't help much,

Some good advice. Though I have had absolutely no problems at all with my 04, I'll still wait to check out the pros/cons of the 2010. At that point, I might be thinkin' engine swap. We'll see.

I was looking at the link to the Speed channel article, and there is a picture of what they are calling the 2010 rotary. Compare it to what Mazda has on their site about the hydrogen rotary, and it appears that the 2010 rotary (based on the picture in the Speed channel article) will be a gas/hydrogen engine, which means it will be able to run on both gas and hydrogen. Mazda also has a goal of producing 50,000 hydrogen powered cars by 2010. A coincidence? I think not.

actually, methane is a very inefficient fuel. it takes a lot of the fuel to go a small distance
and yes that did actually help. sounds like if i plan to get it within the next year or so that i am just as well off gettin the 8 than waiting for some alternate fuel engine.
alternate fuels are much further off than i care to wait, especially around here. i've never seen any hydrogen/ethanol fuel station even though they do exist.
sounds like the car world is much like the computer world. get something now that will be obsolete within a year compared to the new stuff coming out.
