this is probably a stupid question but does getting an intake **** your warranty? and is it a noticeable increase in torque or acceleration?

The warranty and intake questions have been covered quite a bit already. Do a search and you should find lots of information.
Most people seem to agree that the stock intake is pretty well designed to begin with. As for the warranty, if Mazda can prove the modification caused the problem, then they don't have to cover it.

From a warranty standpoint, anything you do ahead of the maf sensor or behind the cat does not void your warranty. The key is that you don't change anything else, not even the coupler behind the maf to the throttlebody. They may give you a hard time over the new maf pipe as well. It really depends on how big of a ***** your particular dealership is. Some won't mind, others will.

"The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought. Disputes in this area usually boil down to arguments over facts and technical opinions, rather than arguments over interpretations of the law."
