ABS Failure
Hi All:
Has anybody else had or heard of the ABS module failing, mine is dead. The part is F1Y3-43-7A0C. Both the ABS and TC lights are on. I can still drive the car old school without ABS. According to the dealer this part is not suppose to fail. My car is an 04 and is out of warranty, the cost of the part is $2300. I have called Mazda Canada but there is no resolution yet.
Has anybody else had or heard of this happening?
Have any of you dealer types out there done this repair before?
Thanks.

You better make sure its the ABS module that fail
cuz you do know that a loose connector in one of the wheel sensor can trigger what you're talking about. or if there is a short in the wiring somewhere can trigger the same thing.
some dealerships are idiots and never even bother to check wiring for shorts.

The ABS module on my accord gave out. after 12 years, 120,000 miles, and after working for 5 years with a slow leak in the high pressure tank.
You probably have a bad sensor or wire. find a qualified rotary mechanic near you and have them check it out rather then a stealership

2005 RX8 (35k miles) ABS FAIL?
Anyone have a better idea of what might really be wrong with my car?
I was driving my car up a fairly steep street and the car computer began beeping and the following lights came on the dash:
I thought the car stalled but it didn't and was still drivable. Power steering was lost but I was able to drive the car to my mechanic. On the way there all the lights went out except for the check engine light and the power steering started working again. I immediately thought it was the loose wire issue but my mechanic wanted to do a full diagnostic on the electrical system. The diagnosis took days and he eventually said the ABS was bad or going bad. Prior to this the check engine light would come on and go off... It would stay on for days at a time - then go away for a long while.
My mechanic says "Im not a rotary mechanic but I swear I hear air escaping from the engine - you should have Mazda do a compression test. Also I can get you a new part for $1700 + labor or we can hunt for a used one". With that, I decided to take it to Mazda because the engine core is on warranty until the end of the year for the seals - AND I didn't trust his diagnosis because I've gone for unnecessary repairs with him before.
I didn't tell the mazda dealership anything except the symptoms and mentioned a loose wire/harness issue. Mazda took 4 hours to diagnose the same ABS issue and said nothing about the check engine light (which goes on and off - cat was replaced last november). They quoted me $3700 for the repair which included diagnosis, replacement starter (original was working fine), and a new ABS module.
What do you guys think? Loose/bad wire harness? Bad sensor? ABS Module really bad?

rev it up
Check your connections on each wheel. I had such a failure and all I did was spray contact cleaner on all the wheel sensors and made sure that all the connectors were ok.
