I'm not typically one to say stuff like this...

But what is up with people being a bunch of whiney *** bitches lately?

This is seriously one of the most useful forums I've seen. Sure we're quick to bash newbies a little because most people don't even try to act like they've put in effort. How many times do you see a thread on something new or not commonly discussed that gets ridiculed? I'm not sure if there's an automotive forum out there that has not had at least one thread on oil type etc. So why can't people just search for that crap? We also have a FAQ which gives you most the basic information you'd need as a start, yet no one reads it.

Another forum I'm on had a 10+ page thread because people were bashing this guy for trying something new. He used a more expensive, but potentially more effective valve than the valve people typically use. The guy clearly stated the benefits of the valve's design yet people bashed him because he didn't use the same valve everyone else used. He provided new and useful information and got bashed.

Another forum bashed me because I didn't own the car that forum was dedicated to. How dare I have an interest in a car other than my own?!

Forums are so similar in design it amazes me how difficult people act like it is to be in a new forum. Most good forums are divided into rather clearly defined sections and typically have a search feature. Almost all forums can be searched via google search if you insert site: followed by the web address (example: site:rx8club.com synthetic oil; guess what you'll find discussions on).

You're getting bashed because you literally made an account to bitch about the forum, which you clearly stated you do not intend to remain an active member of. You created an account to complain. How are we supposed to respond? You have to know this isn't going to miraculously change how everyone acts. Every (relatively large) forum has people who will flame. Welcome with the internet. It's something you have to deal with. It's like living in Canada and acting shocked when snow shows up.

P.S. You posted it in the section dedicated to talk about the RX-8. This should be in the lounge or suggestions section.

Edit: This rant was not nearly long enough I think. I decided to add a convenient example to relate a forum to real life. So let's say you're doing research for a paper you have to write. (For this scenario, you aren't allowed to use internet for your sources). You go to the library (forum) to look at articles and books to find your information you need. So you casually browse through the library but don't immediately find what you're looking for. So you go to ask the librarian (search function) where you should be looking. The librarian (search function) will tell you where to start looking (search results) to find your information. Now imagine someone else (newb) comes in after you find all that information out on your own, and starts demanding you answer all of their questions for them and complains when you tell them that they can find it the same way you did. Then imagine a constant stream of people asking the same thing over and over and over and over and over again, and none of them even try looking around the library for the information. You'd probably get a little frustrated when 2 people are standing there asking the same question at the same time, but both of them demand you answer them individually instead of providing the answer to 1 of them. Are you starting to see how ridiculous that would get?

Lesson: searching is not that hard and would get rid of, at least, 50% of the flaming on this forum. The people that made the site were even kind enough to label the search button "Search" and put it at the top of the page where it's VERY easy to find.

People just want to have everything right away for free and with no delays. They have no desire to put in the requisite time to formulate the appropriate question and they have no interest in the substance of the topic matter.

"How can I get 300whp naturally aspirated"
"What is the best motor oil"
"I got beat by a Camry. Why is the '8 so slow?"
"Why did I lose power after installing an intake?"
"My engine blew after installing my turbo without management."

Each of these questions and situations could have been answered by engaging in 30 minutes of reading prior to posting or acting. The information is there for you to save yourself from being a slack-*** bastard; use it! Don't expect us to do all of your work for you. Man, I wish there was some way I could ensure that these knuckle-draggers would be forced to use a card catalog and reference section to do a research project so that they can gain the necessary skill to actually freaking LEARN!

And then people like the OP come in and complain about a community that they obviously have no serious interest in, have no plans on contributing to in any meaningful way and throw out more logically inconsistent statements per paragraph than your average Bible-thumper.

The majority of humans need to quit being *****!

On the bright side, at least the OP has the good grace to approximate good grammar, punctuation and (pseudo-) paragraph structure. I suppose the structure of his/her post would put him above the average flame-bate if the topic weren't so troll-worthy.

1. Noobs came here asking repeatedly answered questions so we teach them its polite to SEARCH first.

2. Its customary for us to flame noobs first. Call it an initiation ritual.

3. Here's a tissue for your brother, we might have flamed him before and apparently he goes crying to you ... maybe

4. Exit is that way >>>>>>>>>>

Um, okay, this thread is "ridiculous."

As an extremely new owner to the forum, and member of many forums in the past ~10 years, I can say this place is actually one of the better experiences I've had.

Beyond the fact that a ton of people probably post dumb questoins that could be awnsered in 10 seconds with a Google search followed by a keying of CTRL+F and maybe a bit of reading as well, people here seem very nice and helpful.

Have fun with your V6 Accord or whatever the hell you drive.

<--- This was in my random smiles box. IT'S LIKE IT KNOWS!

Wow... registered just to write this eh..? Must have been really upset haha..
I've seen some rather rude comments and replies to posts seeking for help on this forum. But to generalize all of the forum members into a "you people" and stating that you would never purchase an rx-8 because of some of the rudeness you have seen/experienced on this forum is ridiculous on your part as well IMO haha.
With all that said, I hope you and your brother get things worked out well on his electronics ^^.

I was looking around trying to find some information on installing some electronics. I am a member of my own automobile forum. i will not mention what make or model as to not be abused as some members here are.

forums are meant as a way to gain information and share experiences as well as issues with your type of vehicle. being a member only emphasizes the fact that you love your vehicle. not only yours but all RX-8s.

my point is that some of the people here are so inconsiderate towards newbies and people who are just not as capable as others. you should WELCOME new members. Help eachother out with questions and concerns, and be excited to meet other owners...

I was so disgusted with the way people acted here that i had to create an account just to post this.

good luck with whatever you "haters" are doing and grow up...

and to you newbies... keep on trucking, make your ride y our own and respect those who respect you... screw all the other ones.

I've seen nothing but helpful posts and members bending over backwards for those who demonstrated the slightest bit of initiative.
While I agree that there are some STUPID people in the world who seem to migrate here and ask STUPID or OBVIOUS questions and they are probably best ignored, I also think the average response of this forum is on par with the douchebaggery that might be expected of a general BS forum like 4chan or offtopic, and not a car specific forum.

I posted this the other day. https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...1&postcount=28

yea there is attitude, but I think a large part of it is a humorous sarcasm. It actually makes this place alot of fun if you dont get a sandy vagina over everything.

I post here and on the corvette forums. Over there everyone is really, really nice but we dont have any fun. Its a great community......but its like...church.
